Many questions remain until the release, but at this point maybe one of the most important would be, when it will be in the european stores?, 15/9 or here in Europe it would be something later?

Post

not only is omnisphere sounding too good to be true.. but spectrasonics seems to me the best place to be... how about hiring me???

Post

I'm a bit confused about the upgrade policy.

Atmosphere owners will get a mighty discount because Omni includes the Atmosphere library. Very nice. Lots of happy people.

But Omni also includes the SOV library. SOV was a hell of a lot more expensive than Atmosphere and yet it too will now be totally redundant.

Is there anything in this for SOV users ?

Post

the above appears as a legitimate question... however as spectrum said... its not an all inclusive spectrasonics bungle... only 5 gigs of 4O are used...

Post

@Eric.....consider this my job interview.... i can bring in revenue toward perhaps the female market.... we need sum princess dont we... mars needs women... ive got connections with angels of voices of pop michelle adamson on my side...

i could be da spectra fly boy lol...

on the real side... i have banging ideas for presets no minds can phantom.... how about it.. want another on your side at spectra.... how about interneship...?? email me timothy.ivory@live.com

I'm sure Eric will have an answer about the upgrade eligibility, but I think what he said before about the Omnishpere library was that only 7 or so gigs of it were from Atmosphere and the previous libraries, not that 5 out of 40 gigs of SOV were used in Omni. I also believe he said that of the SOV content, only the multisamples but not the grooves were used, whatever % of the volume or how many mbs of that library that may be.

[quote="spectrum"/] [quote/]To put it in perspective:

Out of the 42gigabytes in the core library, only about 3 gigabytes are from the original sample libraries. The Atmosphere library is 3.7gigabytes.

So that's a solid 35gigabytes of brand new, never before released material. So that's certainly the focus of the core library. But the sample libraries and Atmosphere stuff is a great additional color to mix in.

Just to clarify... its all about the color

You can install Quicktime Alternative. They will play back fine then.
Unfortunately, QT Alternative doesn't seem to work properly as a browser plugin.
Hi BC,

did you try this instead? http://www.codecguide.com/about_qt.htm
Thanks, yes I tried that but couldn't get it to work.

I expected a program that would open the .mov files when I right clicked them and selected this QTAlternative to open them.

Didn't work though - nothing happened

Sascha - the homepage for QTA says that it is for webpage-embedded QT content. If it doesn't work properly as browser plugin that defeats it's purpose ?
If God did exist (and he doesn't) he would answer to the name of Maurizio

Well if you really mean that, you won't have been a successful applicant.

How about emailing them your resume, together with your long list of commercial sound design work, some personal comments from other top developers/sound designers praising your work and attitude, and audio examples of the sounds you've made - I'm sure if you're *that* good, they'll probably want you.

Otherwise... forget it... :D

It only took me a few clicks to find this: http://www.spectrasonics.net/companyinfo/employment.php

It's old though, from April, and not quite what you seem to be looking for. But my guess would be that there's no Preset Designer job at Spectrasonics. I could be wrong, but I suspect that everyone who does sound design also has other duties.

Another idea: I would recommend getting Omnisphere (and any other Spectrasonics instruments) and asking Eric if you might send him (or someone else at the company) the patches you create for it. It might get you on their radar. Maybe start to build a relationship? It's a long shot, but we're all reaching for something big, otherwise we wouldn't be musicians. :D

im talking quantum physics.. no mod or matrix manipulations.. thats arbitrary :D think of the basics.. the golden waveforms....@ arbitrary temperature jewel strings

Besides.. no stress... I said internship... so nothing to loose... itll be a trip just to meet the crew... if thats a little understated... my apologies...
im chasing a girl in rome and scholarship for music theory.... where spectra is at is only a twitch away... a few times to see and its worth it.. plus . on application as spectra... then im golden..

as for credit.. here http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=665250452

Awesome. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
omnisphere is going to blow people away!

my only hope for omnisphere is user sample importing (so i can get better use out of metasynth) and user definable waveforms for the oscillators and lfos (so i pitch absynth in the trash)

atmosphere in my ears is perhaps best sounding plugin out there

i can't wait for my upgrade copy

Yeah well - it should theoretically work, but under Firefox I couldn't get it to do so. Besides, I'm using an older version because the newer versions don't contain a certain MPEG codec that I need to cut my DVBT videos in MPEG Streamclip (nice freeware for such actions).
Maybe there's some trick but I really don't bother about it much. I usually just download .movs. And for that, QT Alternative does a nice job (I'm playing them in media player classic, though).

The only downside to owning Omnisphere on release is that *everyone* else is also going to be using it... (!) :x
