I like my HPD-15 (hand pad controller, for drums) fine.
I had some synth module few years back, and it DID suck. Just plastic-sounding, and a pita to work with.

Seriously, man? You started a huge thread offering cash for people who could rat out cracking teams. Honestly, you of all people have no business complaining about Roland protecting their own.Markus from Tone2.com wrote: How can you know this? Do we know in private?
Anyway, back on topic. I love Roland. I have a Fantom X and a JX-3P, and adore them both. Yeah, they make a lot of cheap junkie crap, but so do Korg and Yamaha, and they're pretty much the main competitors these days (since none of them are making analog synth's, I don't count Dave Smith, Moog, etc. as competitors any more). It's sad, but it's more lucrative for these companies to make MicroKorgs and Juno-D's and Mini-Motif's than it is to continue making great analog synth's. They all still have their excellent products though. Nothing but love for Roland here.

So all the 303, 808, 909...etc emulation products out there--they are all paying Roland a licensing fee? Just curious.
It was my first and only synth for the first 10 years of my musical life--I did EVERYTHING on it and managed to squeeze every last drop of possibility out of it, including strange tricks that I'm sure the original designers never intended. I don't miss it at all, although I was blazing fast with its built-in drum machine and could program drums on it like a demon. I even figured out a way to use the drum channel as an arppegiator for synth patches! It was impossible to program though (in terms of synth sounds in the traditional subtractive architecture), and the sounds were pretty weak--except for the add-on cards you could buy for it--those were pretty nice.
I just sold mine last year.Mr Arkadin wrote:D-10 (only synth i've ever sold, it was crap)
