There's no real downside,,, and the big upside is having all your Sampletank format sounds available as one huge library. This makes it possible to use all of your sounds as possible elements in your Combis.

I've included Miroslav Philharmonik in my SampleTank library. It's especially handy when I'm not doing full orchestral sections - I often just use a handful of orchestral instruments (doing mostly pop-like music at the moment).
The downside is that the SampleTank library is bigger and takes longer to load. Not something I worry about though, because I only feel it when I'm loading the project. I'm waiting anyway because there are a few dozen other plugins that need to load too. It's not like it's interrupting my work.
