What about using a guest account?

You can protect your personal account with a password and switch to the guest account when you're away. With fast user switching activated you can still run your programs while the guest account is active.

This is for XP, dunno what OS you're running...

IMHO youre asking for trouble. If its important, dont let anyone near it while youre rendering. Anything can happen. Laptops arnt meant to be left on for long periods.

No go. When switching users in XP the active programs are suspended and don't continue. On Linux / OSX it might be different.
