Yep.
Renee is Queen of Vapourware, He's notorious for "Oh look at this revolutionary plugin that I'll let you test and tell you all of the wonderous things it can do. Give me all your input so I can make it the best there is. Oh by the way, I never said I'd actually release it so... jokes on you".
:uhuhuh:
I strongly object to the term vapourware but I suppose I can live with it as long as it's not vaporware.
Are you her?
who Rene? First she's a he and not me but attaching something as negative as his pluggins to the benefits of vapor (especially today) just aint right.

Can't believe I missed this.
Are you still accepting applications for beta testers??

LOL!
Are you serious???
Well, you should probably also try to attempt the betatest of his other ampsim...

I was kidding.
I must admit I was excited for awhile.

Hey Guys, I built a modeller capable of acoustic sounds, but I watch your development with great interest as I know how difficult this is to do. Well, perhaps not acoustic sounds, but more like acoustic with peizo sounds. Its called Whisper. Anyways, Is there any other demos of this thing other than what is on the start page? I'd like to hear how it is progressing. Ours is already released as part of a suite called DIG 2.0 available for download here at KVR. Anyways, Looking forward to checking this out when it is released..

Well I just noticed that this was discontinued...OK, I'll pick it up from here and sign all previous beta testers to acmebargig as beta testers...
Just a side note, we don't make vapourware..

If you're interested then email me and we'll get started...There is a lot of testing and such that has to be done, and the 12 signed beta testers I already have, well I need more, these guys are run ragged with our development schedules. Summer is coming up so most people like to be outside and such, there just won't be enough testing going on with only 12.

When you have emailed me and we have finished with the NDA and Liability legal crap, you will get an invite to our beta test server. The server has essentially every effect and ampsim we have, I think it is some where around 10 - 12 VST Plugs, not really sure...There is more here on my system yet to be released to beta. Anyways, simply go to the server and download what ever seems interesting to you, some of these are commercial and some are freeware, but all are important and deserve the same degree of attention to detail that we strive for. There will be directives from time to time, I'll ask that you concentrate your efforts on a specific project because it may be do for release, or perhaps an error was reported that I cannot recreate. In that case I'll ask you to try and recreate it documenting the steps.

Either way, it won't be just record some music and let me hear it, there is a lot more to good beta testing than that.

Well I look forward to hearing from you and if you know anyone that was involved as a tester here before, please let them know about this post...

I've been beta testing Ken's stuff since he got started and I can vouch that he really listens to folks. I've seen many of my suggestions implemented into the final product, especially in DIG which I spent a lot of time testing for him. Hop on, he's a good guy and he does good work.

I'd hop on the beta (Ken's, not vapor-queen's) in a heartbeat when there's a mac VST and/or they can be installed on Receptor. I'll have to watch for those if they ever come. Could probably try to get them on Receptor if they aren't too crazy of an install and that's at all helpful.

hey Ken

nice to see you here!

Ive always thought a plugin that would allow to record acoustic guitars in the same way we record electric guitar would be VERY handy

but you gotta think outside of the box and have some things in mind

recording acoustic guitars thru pickups and NOT mics can be tricky.

-because of the boomyness caused by the guitar body and magnetic pickups
-noise (because for clean recording the sound has to be bright)
-hum (caused by piezos)

so basically i think that plug should go like this:

1-pickup selector: piezo type or magnetic type
2-impulse loader: and some acoustic guitar body impulses
3-DEamp option (natural acoustic guitars dont sound amped do they?)
4-Mic emulation (condenser or dynamic etc... and distance placement)
5-noise reduction and compression
6-HIeq and LOeq
7-HUM suppresion for when used with electroacoustic guitars with piezo pickups.

I once made a preset for Guitar Rig that simulates an acoustic guitar played with an electric...

I used NO amps.. but a few EQs... and a BASS cab with a mic placed near the TWEETER to bring out the brightness of the first 3 strings

the result was an almost convincing ACguitar sim (if I played my guitar with both bridge and neck PU activated)
the only issue was that volume was very low even tho I has the preset's master pumped up

I think, the basic procedure would be like this:

- Make an electric guitars D.I. signal sound like an acoustic steel strung guitar minus the body. The result would be a rather thin-ish, high mid oriented sound (similar to what you hear when you press your ear onto the bridge while playing). This is best achieved using a bridge PU and quite some intensive low cuts (plus some high mid boost).

- Send this signal through an IR of an acoustic guitar.

I made a few tests myself so far, but was only using the (pretty bad) piezo of my old Takamine to capture an impulse (I'm still in the process of moving houses, will try to capture a better impulse when done). The results were rather astounding, as my electric really quite sounded like an acoustic using a bad piezo. I guess using proper IRs the result could be massively improved.
I do however think that recreating the "sympathetic interaction" between an acoustics body, the strings, the way the bridge is mounted and, last but not least, your playing, will be very tough to be faithfully recreated. Guess this would need some kind of clever resynthesis module inside whatever emulation. Rolands VG series do a pretty decent job on that, at least IMO.

Ari! So this is where you been? I was wondering where you were at..Anyways, I read your post and it all sounds right to me. I was thinking though, snce you have had some success with getting that type of tine, can you go get DIG 2.0 and see if you can model that tone using whisper and whatever else. Then we have existing technology, anything else you use I'll just build for it..

Off the top of my head we will need to get a filter for simulating the Depth of the body and I think the filter type I use for cabs would do it..2 pole LP filter. Once we have an acoustic sound, we can start adding things like mic postion, etc. Also Ari, I'm gonna get a copy of ReShift to you, afterall you were one of the first people to show an interest in it. I uploaded it to the beta test servertoday, but have heard back from Smudge that it does not work, so I'll have a new version tomorow.

Good to talk to you again..

JohnnyMcFly, are your plugins x-platform?

Sascha, can you go and download DIG 2.0 and see if Whisper will give you a tne as a starting point. The reason I'm asking you guys this is that Whisper is already created and if we casn simply add to it and create an uopdate for it, then that saves us a whole whack of production time. If we casn't get that tone then no big deal I'll just bull it from scratch, but that would be a great strting point.

Thanks, and are you going to join our testing/development team..
