True true, but OTOH it's only two knobs. Pretty easy actually. I t would be nice to have a software version. Hope you pull it off.birrbits wrote:To be honest one of the things I'm trying to do with the plugin version is make the programming a bit easier. Spinning 2 knobs all day long (on the original) is frankly not my idea of fast & easy programming.warp x wrote: Mine is doing great, I use it everyday. I don't need a plugin version, having the real thing.

While I don't know of the Vortex, it sounds like they have modeled it after the automation features about to come up with AriesVerb 0.8You can morph between 2 presets you make & set the speed at which it changes from one set of settings to the other AND use an expression pedal to do the same thing live.
But that's just me ...

I'm also interested in this.
In all honesty I'm not sure if an emulation will succeed, but thats neither here or there really.
What your doing should provide people with lots of fun, especially with the added bonus of multiple parameter control, which as we all know is lacking with the original.
I can happilly blitz round the Vortex all day long, and I do believe some of the control shortcomings force you to use the unit differently in comparison to a more generic multifx.
Mine seems to have developed a bit of a fault though
After e few minutes it randomly flicks between presets, as if it doesn't know where the front panel preset selector is.
Gah

If/when you need/want any 'beta' testers, preset makers, please pm me.
BOTH of my (highly prized) Vortex's are dead.

I am drooling over this right now...
By the time you've reached version ONE of Ariesverb.... its going to be making my dinner and dressing me in the mornings.

That's a pretty well known issue. The digital encoder knobs get squirrelly after a while. The Vortex and it's sister, the JamMan both suffer from this. They probably cheap components to keep the price point low. I'm pretty sure it's an easy repair if you can find the part. Check old loopers-delight mailing list archives and I bet you'll find a source for them.woodster wrote: Mine seems to have developed a bit of a fault though

This is just plain silly. A four year old thread about emulating the Vortex. Good luck.
goto ebay and spend $150 and you will have one. I've had mine for over 12 years and it is a fantastic processor that has an awesome live feel. Sounds great and will sure impress the crowd.
Btw, I've used the vortex w/ Mac OS 8.5 -> OSX and Windows 95 -> Windows 7.
