Sonik Synth in Kontakt format?

I apologize in advance for my ignorance or inappropriatness, but:
Is there any chance that the Sonik Synth library will be available in a format Kontakt 3 can read? Nothing against SampleTank; I own it (and SS2, and SampleTron) and I like it's simplicity...but in general I use Kontakt because I prefer importing samples into it than ST2. For a variety of reasons (mostly relating to stability) I would rather use one sampler than two in my live setup, and since I use Kontakt's scripting ability I want to move everything over to that format. But I do love the SS2 and Tron sounds.
I could use Extreme Sample Converter to assemble nki's out of grabbed samples, but it I'm not sure if it is legal. I am sure it isn't simple.
Any chance they'll ever be in a Kontakt Library?

It's worth asking. I have thought of it too. But Sonik Synth 2 in an IKMM product, with a Sounds Library created and programmed by Sonic Reality. It seems to me very very unlikely that IKMM would commission a Kontakt format library.
ExSC does not read SS2 format patches directly (they are in SampleTank2 format) so the VSTi Converter would not help. And there are no .wav samples to use.
I would stick with SS2. If you have instability problems then report them to IKMM. Surely IKMM must be thinking of SS3 (and ST3 and STron3 and ...) these days.

Thanks DarkStar. While I agree that Extreme Sample Converter can't directly convert ST2 format, did you know it can HOST? So, it can host SampleTank or SonikSynth, from which you can then load the sound you want to copy. Then you can hit whatever keys you want to record raw waves directly from the VSTi inside ESC, and then use ESC to reassemble them as a velocity-layered Kontakt .nki, for example. It just requires assembly, time, and patience. I'm pretty short on the latter.

Well, Sonik Synth 2 is an SR/IK product and someday there may even be a Sonik Synth 3 (stands to reason... 1, 2, 3, 4...). But it's a joint "brand" if you will.
However, we do "workstation sounds" for all sorts of formats like Reason and also Kontakt to some extent (and to a MUCH larger extent very soon because of the Infinite Player/Kontakt thing). Basically, while SR has for many years supported a wide variety of sampler formats (and continue to do so today) we decided to have this Infinite Player be a platform for pretty much ALL Sonic Reality sample archives (but note there's a difference between the samples and the "patches" which in the case of SS2 also factor in IK's very good and particular built-in effects that have their own sound all together making the plug-in unique and unable to be replicated in anything else with the same results). But the sample archives we've sampled over the years WILL be released in Kontakt format through the Infinite Player (basically, Infinite Player IS Kontakt Player (or Kontakt if you own it) but it comes with an "unlock code" for all Infinite Player family products (a form of copy protection where you authorize it once through NI's service center for the library - something you have to do for all Kontakt Player-based libraries and then from there on in you drag and drop sound ZIPS onto our proprietary "library installer" and you expand to infinity!).
Alright so now down to what you really want to know... DO we have workstation sounds for Kontakt/Infinite Player coming out soon? Yes we do. Currently we have the Kapsule series for workstation instruments and the Konstruction series for song construction loops (in other words, drum loops but also bass lines, keys, guitars, vocals, fx etc.) There are new Kapsules being announced soon to add to your Infinite Player and there's also a general workstation of synths and a little of everything you need for songwriting etc. The cool thing is that it is more of a modular workstation approach where you can add more of one type of a sound or another and customize it to your needs... I guess similar to what the old JV 2080s were like where there was a main set that got you all around stuff but then you could VINTAGIZE it a bit with the Vintage Exp Board (which we helped sample for years ago) or Orchestralize it a bit with the Orch Exp Board, add the World one, Vocal one etc. You'll be able to do that for the Infinite Player very soon in addition to what you can already do now with the current 5 Kapsules for Drums, Guitars and Bass (not to mention everything ELSE you can get for the Infinite Player such as Drum Masters).
Anyway, more news on this is coming. No official announcement has been made but since you're asking... yes we'll have something that gets you a variety of workstation sounds and sound shaping source material ala something like SS2... but just not SS2 itself. Many of the sample source through in our sample archives. In many cases higher resolution sounds which we tend to go for in this format vs. others like Reason and SampleTank where it's more variety oriented. In Kontakt since we have high resolution audio and streaming there's a bit more that can be done (also for EXS and other samplers too but there's only so much time in the day!!!!! We'll do something EXS-LOGIC specific too such as a workstation variety pack of loops and instruments soon).
Sorry I am operating on 2 hours sleep. Hope that answered your question! I have Ken Scott sitting right next to me in the studio finalizing EpiK DrumS at the moment - another product coming out for Infinite Player (Kontakt format). Just to be clear, all of the material we do for Infinite Player does work with Kontakt as long as you've purchase Infinite Player for the library unlocking.

Squids, you are AWESOME! Thanks for the complete answer. I do love the variety of SS2...I hope when you consider the sounds you release for the Infinite Player (which I'm going to think of as the entrance fee to let me get those sounds in Kontakt 3.5) you don't go too deep with few but stay richly varied. Hey, go deep with lots if you want! My dream would be SS2 type content in a K3 searchable library.
