Sounds like bad timing to me.
If you're thinking about getting AT better make it 12/31/09 and take advantage of the current GB.
And re your other points, nothing wrong with using sounds for inspiration imho, playing guitar and music in general should be fun after all, and in my book everything's ok that serves that goal.

I really don't have a choice and I'm not even sure AT is next, I lost over 30k defending myself against a bogus lawsuit over the last two years and now I'm close to launching my own suit to get that back and recover considerably more money that my dad inherited from my sister that has vanished. I'm not broke but I have to consider my future if I come up empty after this, I snatch the interest off of an annuity once a year for xmas and mad money but obviously it's not going to be as good this year. I can pick up stuff from AMS and stretch it over three months, because I have monthly income and that's part of my budget. But I never, repeat never spend money I don't have on things I want with a credit card. I realize it's six of one/half dozen of the other but

Same here, perfectly reasonable.
Though I'm not sure I could resist temptation if it's only about a single day ...

well to be fair I said after the first, not on the first. These last three years have been very strange and so much is "up in the air". It might be never tbh, so one day at a time

fwiw my sister owned one of the largest real estate companies on the resort island Martha's Vineyard. I know where my mother's share is but my father's is quite the mystery, though I have a good idea of what probably happened.

Seriously, you couldn't float $180 for a day or two?
You could buy the awesome StealthPedal for that and load X-GEAR with Metal, AT2, Ampeg SVX, and JHE all for free with it. TH-1 can't touch that bundle.

As of the 1st of the year, it will cost you $800 to do that.

I had it approached from the standpoint of soloing a mic and constantly going to different soloed mics (boring!) instead of shaping and sculpting. Now enjoying moving the sliders around (with appropriate attention to the cabinet gain) and finding sounds that way.

Just wanted to share.
hey hibidy man, that's the reason the control room module is so damned awesome in concept (i have yet to try it out myself...) As blending mics together is the best way to arrive at a good guitar tone i find in real life and can pretty much act as an EQ via the comb-filtering occuring naturally and when one does not have to reach for additional "Correctional" eq bar the hpf = one is doing something right IMO. To have that many mics on a cab in real life would cost a fortune and take up alot of space and probably every input on all our interfaces too! Thats why i am really looking forward to try it (GR4) out :D

RE: Cash - yeah i never have had a credit card and never will. If i need/want something then i save up for it and live with the fact that i can not afford to splash out on/have the newest stuff when it is released. I have two young mouths to feed before a penny can even be considerd as audio equpment funds! I do maybe spoil the children a little but only if they are behaving and doing well at junior/primary school. Kids toys these days cost alot more than i was a lad  !!! luckily they are not old enough too care about fashionable clothes....yet - then i am f**ked

I love second-hand gear and deliberately go for used gear above brand new as it has saved me quite alot of money over the years

@ susi better feedback  sort of imminent ;)

That is f**king terrible to hear, sorry to hear about that Hink especially with the current circumstances of peoples finaces due to this recession or whatever it is called over in the USA and here in the UK.

I hope that you do get some of what is rightly yours back man FWIW. Good luck if you do go back with a counter-strike at the bastards

Take care and all the best

@ susi mate i couldn't agree more, i mean if you ain't enjoying playing just for your own pleasure and regardless of anything else: then what is the point of playing at all? :)

I see waves want $2800 for their "WNS Noise Suppressor" - i think i will stick with my Boss NS-2 :hihi:

i'm purposely trying to stick with Guitar Rig 3 (maybe will consider v4). I think what someone said on the first or second page is spot on, the software we don't have is the one that sounds best.

Dean, thanx it was a low blow...I am going for the jugular :hihi:

Oh man! You said it! (though I think they meant those two prices the other way around, the lower being native/higher being TDM)

Anyways, I think I'll pass on that one!

I think we need to stop confusing the desire for more and better tools with the tendency to distract ourselves from making music with gear collection. The two are very different but related things for me, but I don't understand why the phrase "the software you don't have is the one that sounds best" keeps coming up. I have a clear personal favorite and each time I demo another it vindicates my decision. One day my idea might change, but that's got probably more to do with progress than anything else.
