request for a drum masters tips and tricks thread

Can we get an official tips and tricks thread? I've heard some good tips mentioned in other threads.
one was adjusting the envelopes to shorten releases on the ambient kits , to create a very large sounding dry kit. I also discovered that on the dry ocean wave kits the release is shortened a bit, I like the sound a little bit better when I opened up the release all the way, extended the snare rattle on some kits.
For my tip, I've been experimenting with loading the brit 212 Dyna center impulse on an aux channel and increasing the wet half way and reducing the dry, this really gives the drums a dirt to them and a retro feel to my ears.
