I'm considering to join a right organization such as ASCAP, BMI etc, because of care for copyright, royalty within oversea. And I'm also considering to join my country's organization(KOMCA, south korean). But I know of that only one right organization can be joined. So I wonder if that term includes my situation or not, and joining two organizatoins(ASCAP for oversea service + KOMCA for domestic service) is possible or not. Anyone who knows please answer.

Check with your country's organization. Most likely they are already affiliated with BMI or ASCAP. In my country (South Africa) our organization (SAMRO) is affiliated with BMI.
If so you only have to register once.

ASCAP is affiliated with KOMCA: http://www.ascap.com/about/affiliated.html
So just joining your local club should be sufficient.
You cannot join ASCAP without a U.S. Social Security Number.

Thanks for answer. I know of that foreigner also can join ASCAP as paper application but online. thus, All I have to do is join one organization between ASCAP and KOMCA. So here comes another question that which is the best in my situation needing global service. Personally I want to choice ASCAP but don't know about detailed contents.Sepheritoh wrote:Check with your country's organization. Most likely they are already affiliated with BMI or ASCAP. As COOkie said, you need a security number for ASCAP. Unless you have that, your options are limited.

PS. I did not answer the "what is best" question because I do not have experience with ASCAP direct to compare. All I know is that the local guys (SAMRO) sit on my royalty cheque for 2 years before I get a single cent. Hope ASCAP direct is better than that.
