Hi all,
First post here. I purchased into this group buy yesterday just before it closed. I have a couple of quick questions that may have been addressed, but there's over 80 pages to go through here!
First...I went to the "My downloads" area and saw a group of 25 separate downloads. I have downloaded all of those with the exception of the two Kontakt 4 zips. (I already have kontakt4 player installed for Steven Slate Drums EX).
I notice now, when returning or refreshing the "My downloads" area that SOME of the files now have red checks beside them, and every so often there are more checked than before.
Does this mean that those have changed or been updated and I have to now RE-download them?
Also, I have not clicked on the link with the serial number (the one that takes you to downloadablesoundz.)as I seem to have two serial numbers. Is this normal?
Is one for the Infinite Player and the other for the 4 Multi-track drum kits?
I want to make sure before "clicking and accepting" anything.
Thanks, all!

If you didn't also buy Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle 1 and only got Bundle 2 then you should only have ONE redeem code (aka serial) there to click on to go to DownloadableSoundz.com so I'd talk to allen (at) esoundz (dot) com to make sure that is correct.
The red check system is just supposed to show what you've downloaded before but actually that system isn't even entirely accurate and will be fixed at some point so I'd just ignore that.

yeah the red checks seem kinda random and dont always have a direct relationship to reality. just ignore them : )

Squids, well done! And, THANK YOU!! Once again, I'm impressed with the quality of these samples. It's more drums than I'll EVER know what to do with but one interesting thing has happened...as I preview each kit I am starting to learn (and better understand) drums: how different snares react, how annoying a high-hat can be
, how the room becomes its own instrument, how the mix of each element changes EVERYTHING, etc. etc. It's almost worth the investment for this experience alone. I encourage everyone to experiment with deep listening and create as many different combinations as you can. It's like being an engineer in all of these different studios; an experience that most of us would never have (not working in high end studios). Well, I didn't grow up with all of this sample magic so I still get to enjoy the novelty of it all
I have some of the Steven Slate kits as well. They are something altogether different and have their place but, for my taste, the SR kits are more organic and dynamic which makes them more valuable (for their versatility). It's fun to have both anyway.
I was previewing these last night with the "SquidiMIDI" from the first group buy and WOW! Those MIDI grooves you created really bring these kits to life and demonstrate the value of IMAP in a way I didn't fully grasp before. I'm not sure the Groove Monkee MIDI does IMAP justice
They sound ok (some of them are great actually) but I haven't heard them utilize the full potential of IMAP. When I heard your grooves, a light bulb went off and I thought...oooooooh, ok I get it! So, I'm looking forward to more of these "SquidiMIDI" and would HIGHLY encourage you to make a full set of these (with proper song sections) for purchase (similar to how ToonTrack does for around $20 a set).
I still believe these kits need to be advertised better (sorry) because the audio clips don't demonstrate their potential. HOWEVER, I see that you've started working with Dimi and this (IMO) is a VERY smart move. Those tracks sound amazing and really bring out the dynamics and explosiveness these kits are capable of. But, we are still missing those video demonstrations
Oh well, I won't beat a dead horse
It's all good
Can't wait to hear the new hybrid kits that combine samples from BOTH group buys. Fun!
Thx,
R

Hey all-
I've been following, but not participating in this thread. Looks like a record-breaking GB, or close to it. Congrats all around!
I would normally be all over this, as I have with previous GB's, however, some of you might have heard about the recent flooding we've had in the Northeast. Well, about 3 weeks ago, the first wave hit (pun intended) and my studio was wiped out. I was able to salvage most of it, dry out the space and re-assemble it. But then last week the 2nd wave hit and took it all out again. Getting back up this time is going to take awhile. My biggest loss is a hard drive with all the raw song data that I've been creating for the past year or so (no back up). I'm hopeful it can be salvaged, but frankly, compared to some neighbors of mine that have had actual raw sewage back up into their homes, I count myself lucky.
So, it's hard for me to even think about stuff like this GB without a feeling of longing, so my reaction has been to try to avoid it all together.
I'm not looking for sympathy or anything--like I said, I'm fine, and I'll be back up soon. But I do miss being able to enthusiastically hang out here. Please know that I have been cheering you on from the sidelines. So for anyone who's been wondering where I've been on this one, I just thought I'd check in.
I DO look forward to seeing you all on the next one!
Cheers

Awe Berf! Sorry to hear about that man! We did miss you and many of us did wonder where you were. Glad you're okay though. Always can be worse... sewage for one thing or any of these other disasters around the world. Best of luck to you though and if you need any help getting back up and running from us let us know!
That old Danny Gottlieb drum head or drum stick (you had something on the wall) still intact? The least of your worries I'm sure... but we're glad you came in to say hello! Best wishes to you and the Berfamily.

Excellent post! I am glad you appreciate that stuff. Wait until you hear the next phase kits! I am going through them and making some extra kit patches while I wait for SR team members to become available... I can't MAKE them work on a Holiday Weekend. It's optional. But, some of them do anyway and that's nice. I do but I own the company so... naturally I'd be around to make sure everything goes great! Also because I care about the quality of it all... not just the numbers side of things. I also like to use it and find myself addicted to the Weckl kit! That one is really nice. The snare is so "snarey" (well that signature Yamaha snare has TWO snares underneath! Really crisp).blueman wrote:Squids, well done! And, THANK YOU!! I'm getting old and slow but luckily I managed to get each group buy after it ended but before sales closed. I don't really need more drums but now my computer is setting next to my V-Drums and I hope to control these great sampled kits with my electronic drums. If it works well that alone is worth more than the price of admission. I'll consider it a mega-super-expansion ROM that sounds better than anything I could hope to get in hardware.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I also have all the SSD and yes..they do have their place, but sometimes you want a real, standing in front of..drum kit sound and, thats where these shine..i am going to be actually gigging with these SR kits because they sound so damn good, unless you were in a metal band the SSD would be useless for live gigging IMO..these SR kits are going to shine on stage!! Thanks Squids, and another thanks to your team, it's great to have people that will show up on a holiday weekend to take care of business!!
Squids, I know it has become a PITA to post stuff on GS now but thats the only way I find out about this stuff, so for the future I appreciate the extra effort it takes to get a product on GS, I will be a costumer for life!!!

i love the drums of this gb so much, maybe even more than the last ones, which i also love so much. I spent about two hours yesterday banging on pads with all the new groupbuy drums, until my palms started getting blisters, my elbows started hurting, and the dog started whining. It was awesome. this groupbuy is already a great buy. i can't wait for the phase 2 drum kits, and the awesome hybrid kits made from both gbs.Squids wrote:Thanks guys.
