Actually when it comes to the interests of the 'consumer' quite often 'the market' can do its job by voting with the collective wallet. Look at what happened with iTunes DRM, for instance. People really weren't up for that and the company changed it's policy.

Which is one reason I wouldn't be surprised if Flash showed up in the next iteration of the iPad.

Flash will never show up on the iPad. Among other things, think about how much the typical flash app relies on mouse overs...

Anyway, you don't miss the flash once you actually use the thing.

No they're not; it's your choice whatever you buy or don't buy. What a silly statement.

They are trying to say that typing on it is a little awkward I guess. Which is true, I'm slower on it than on a normal keyboard, but it's really not bad if you have something to set the iPad down on... It's big enough that it's a little hard to type with your thumbs if you're holding it though.

It's fine for this post but I wouldn't want to write an essay on it.

The reason Apple won't EVER support Flash on the iPad/Phone is because they are going to be using HTML 5 when it comes out. Same functionality as Flash, etc., but will not need 3rd party plugins as it will be built into the code itself.

I hope more people start using HTML 5 because I feel flash has overstayed it's welcome with excessive cpu usage.

Flash isnt dead yet, by a long way and HTML 5 global support is a long way off. Apple is trying to force its adoption but that will take time. Google Chrome supports Flash now and the intention is to make Flash more efficient:

On the basis of what? It's obvious enough that those in line to buy iPads aren't even in need of them. They're true believers at the church of Apple. The logical fallacy is your conclusion.

I bought one and it's the second Apple product I've ever bought, the other was an ipod nano.

It's a great device for web browsing, email and so on... It basically does all the things I was thinking about buying a netbook for but it does them better.

I think there will be some great audio apps for it, but the ones available right now are not all that impressive IMHO, just a couple fun toys.

i am very interested in it aswell, but mainly to replace my trusty old notebook for internet surfing / watching movies / photos etc -
even though of course i see lots of potential in this cool little thing as a platform for great musical devices aswell. (something like reason, reaktor or a qy-70 would be awesome!)

what i'd like to know from people who already have it is:

- since i am planning to get the small 16gb version: how much of this storage is accessable? (os in a dedicated area, not touching the "user storage" at all - or does it already take ie. 500-1000mb from the 16gb?)

- can it run 100% independantly without any restrictions if you dont plan to ever connect it to any "fully fledged" computer at all? (can i transfer my photos / videos to it without a physical connection?)
