Android's audio APIs still lag behind iOS. The AudioTrack and SoundPool API's have too much latency to be suitable for music apps. I haven't used JetPlayer (which seems to be an embedded MIDI synth).
Android 2.3 introduced OpenSL which may be a better solution. But the slow uptake of Android OS upgrades means it'll be a wait before the market is viable.

From what I've read.Karmacomposer wrote:

The following libraries are all used for playing sounds and MIDI as quickly as possible:
JetPlayer, SoundPool and AudioTrack
Mike
real low latency is not there yet following a discussion on PortAudio ML
Please correct if I'm wrong.

There is just one tiny problem: Not for Android. If it where then I would buy this right away!

From what I have discussed with other android devs, 2.3 is much better, but most people will have 2.2, so I am not sure.otristan wrote:From what I've read.Karmacomposer wrote:

I have three apps for music production on my android and they are not too bad, however, iphone apps are much, much better. My guess is because there are simply more people developing and the app market for iphone is very mature.
Games work fantastic on my gtablet and HTC Evo. Games require just as much power as a music app, other than the fact that we rely on multi-track and MIDI more than graphics.
I'm developing for Android regardless. The potential is growing and the audience is MASSIVE.

Nice discussion guys....
But doesn't it belong in the Mobile Apps forum?
