Awesome SingleCell, welcome to the market! Ha yep now you're on the hook for support, etc. It definitely is nerve wracking when you make your first app for money :) But you'll handle it no problem. You got the coding skills and the people skills too from what I've seen so no worries.

Bought the app, good price :)

- New pencil mode rocks, inserting notes goes much faster now.

- It would be nice to have the app ignore the phone timeout screen, now it shuts down audio when the screensaver starts.

- More insert FX per channel ( atm 1 per channel ), or have combined FX ( dist + phaser for example ).

- Use own drumsamples for the beatbox would be great.

Cheers,
Rob.

PS: the app also works nice on my dad his 8inch Android Tablet.

Thanks to everyone here for the suggestions, more fixes and features to come.

There's a new option in the app menu to keep the phone awake.

Yeah I might move them out as standalone rack units (more like Reason) in a future version, so you can chain them ... I'm worried about performance if people get carried away, but I think i'll do it anyway.

Also coming soon, but in the meantime if you're handy with a text editor, you can make some now. Open up a ".beatbox" file in the /caustic/presets/beatbox/ folder to see how it's done, but basically it's just a list of WAV samples. I've already had a few people send in some of their kits, I'm hoping to have enough to ship a content pack soon so if you've got anything to share, send it my way!

Loving the full version so far, just what I've always needed on my phone! A couple of suggestions though...

Just echoing others request for some kind of pattern mode for the synths to make writing whole songs easier. Or in the meantime a lasso tool to easily select groups of notes at once to make the copy/paste experience much easier. Currently It's quite difficult to select alot of short notes, and if you miss one everything gets deselected.

And also it would be great if in the drum machine the open hats could be muted by the closed, either by default or optionally.

Absolutely loving this so far, can't wait to see what it becomes. thanks :)

Just signed up here to congratulate you on Caustic. Bought it yesterday (great price btw :) ) and enjoying it immensely :D

Like a few people have mentioned a lasso tool would be very helpful and when saving a song populating the filename box with the current file would be helpful - at the moment if you restart the app the filename box is unpopulated.

Run fantastically well on my Samsung Galaxy S apart from the latency issues which I know is an Android problem rather than any fault your end.

Thanks for this app, it's set to become the single most used app I own.

Having a great time with this app!

Question/suggestion? Is there a way for the song mode sequencer to loop back to the beginning and start over? Also - when I play a song, once the end of it comes, the sequencer keeps playing. Perhaps in combination with the first suggestion have a mode to have the sequencer stop, loop or continue once it reaches an 'end of song' marker..??

That would be great!

It amazes me that this app is only 5 bucks...!!!

Not only is this a fantastic time waster when you are invited to weddings or other boring occasions, but I also find that it sparks creativity which can be hiding behind writers-block after long spans of using Reaper or ReNoise.

Fantastic piece of software, Singlecell. Keep up the good work. And thanks for making a full-featured demo. Every piece of software I have bought has only engaged my wallet because I was able to install a fully featured demo that didn't expire after 2 weeks or a month. Much appreciated.

Nice, i could sample my Roland MC307, Yamaha DB50XG & MFB502 drumkits or so for this.

Some suggestions for the app:

- An overwrite notice, when overwriting an existing file.
- Export to MIDI file.
- Would it also be possible to make a menu to select which devices to use, instead of the fixed choices we have now? ( so users can choose to use e.g. only 1 bass-line, but 2 subsynths or only pcm sample devices plus a beat-box ).

Cheers,
Rob.

I tried to purchase using the in-app method but the "Buy Now" button is greyed out and I cannot use this method. How long will the price remain US$3.99? Looked for the app on Amazon but didn't see it. I have a Samsung Captivate on AT&T running Froyo (2.2) if that matters.

Nevermind... found the problem. I rotated the phone to portrait view and saw the box to select the payment method which must be selected first before the "Buy Now" button is enabled. Doh!

Purchased! Nice job SingleCell.

I saw a few videos on this app, and it looks great!

I have a few suggestions:

1. Automation Clips. Is it possible to add automation clips for automating the Cutoff Filter and other filters/knobs on the Subsynth? To make Progressive House music.

2. Panning in the mixer. I read that it would double the latency.
Would it double the latency if you just tweaked the panning knob a tad bit?
What if the panning knobs are in center position, does that affect latency?

Is it possible to make an option where you could pan in the mixer befor you export as wav? So you don't have to pan while your creating the song.

3. Note Velocity. This would be an excellent feature to tweak how hard/ or soft the notes hit, e/x making closed hats softer, etc... like in FL Studio.

4. Take the delay effect out of the master and put it in the "insert effect" for each Mixer channel.

5. Add delay 1/2 notes, 1/4 notes, dotted 8th notes, 8th notes, etc for delay timing.

That's all of the ideas I can think of. This app is amaazing! keep up the great work. Sorry if my grammar is bad, hope you get/know what I'm trying to say. :)

Hi SingleCell,

congrats on Caustic! Bought it yesterday and I'm very impressed. Amazing work! Caustic & Electrum are a great combo to have (Samsung Vibrant, 1st Generation).

In terms of feature request:
MIDI export would be amazing. I use Electrum to sketch out patterns while I'm on the go, and then export them to use in my DAW. I believe that quite a few folks would like to carry over their idea snippets created on Caustic to their home/studio work stations.

Thanks for the great work![/list]

That's coming soon, I just need to squash a few more bugs and you'll get control automation on ALL knobs and sliders. :D

The latency/panning issue is only because of the difference between creating the output audio stream as mono or stereo, not a function of panning per se.

I will probably make this an option in a future version, but it'll require a bit of work so not just yet...
DJ Candy wrote: 3. Note Velocity. This would be an excellent feature to tweak how hard/ or soft the notes hit, e/x making closed hats softer, etc... like in FL Studio.
You can already set two "velocity" levels in the drum machine and you can adjust volume per instrument, but I know that's not real velocity. I've toyed with a few interface ideas on how to allow proper velocity in the pattern editors, nothing conclusive yet, the challenge is keeping everything clean and easy to use while giving power users more options. Again, this won't happen just yet, but I'm looking into it...
DJ Candy wrote: 4. Take the delay effect out of the master and put it in the "insert effect" for each Mixer channel.
The delay is quite expensive on memory right now as it creates a 2 second buffer @ 44kHz. On some phones, that's a lot of memory. Android dictates that your app can be killed by the OS if it uses too much memory. They have never defined what "too much" means, but they have guidelines... I'll see if it's possible.
DJ Candy wrote: 5. Add delay 1/2 notes, 1/4 notes, dotted 8th notes, 8th notes, etc for delay timing.
The delay is already sync'ed to BPM using 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8, 1/9 etc, no display, but you can hear what it's doing if you feed it a simple ping. No dotted notes though.

I have started looking into MIDI export, in fact I just posted an entry on the app's blog yesterday regarding some questions I have about what you guys want from a MIDI export in Caustic.

Have a read and help shape this feature to your needs!
