FL Studio Mobile -it's in the app store

Bought an iPad yesterday, and while I've got over my original disappointment with FL Studio, especially seeing that ImageLine are addressing most of the issues, it drives me bloody mad that the iPad version is a separate purchase. If it had some additional iPad-only functionality I could understand (like the difference between iSequence for iPhone and iPad) but it's basically the same program on both platforms, with only the iPad version making better use of the screen. Absolutely sucks that it's going to cost me another ~£12 to 'upgrade' this to simply use a different resolution. An in-app purchase to upgrade the iPhone version to make it a universal app for the difference in cost would have been a better idea, but bugger it - I'm not buying the program twice.

Same annoyance with Rebirth - bought it on iPhone when it came out - now they expect me to buy it again for even more money? - well tough. Apps seem to have all gone up a lot in price recently too - they are beginning to price themselves out of the market

Yup, I bought Rebirth on iPhone but quickly uninstalled it when I realised you can't render out your songs/loops. Didn't even realise there was a separate iPad version, but if it's another 'pay again' app I'm done with it. Still, getting disappointed with the big names like this is at least encouraging me to dig deeper and find some little-known app gems.

Did you miss the AudioCopy button on the right when the interface is up? It's there on the iPad version at least. It should be there along with the pattern, save, mod, etc buttons.audington wrote:Yup, I bought Rebirth on iPhone but quickly uninstalled it when I realised you can't render out your songs/loops.

Thanks Devon, I didn't realise that! I've just Googled it and it seems it's in the iPad version only, so I'm going to add the iPad version to my AppShopper wishlist and grab it when they do a price drop
Thanks for the tip!

I bought it in March and haven't played a lot with it; just haven't had time. Brings back memories though.
I thought you could export to SoundCloud, or at least out to iTunes, which most of the audio apps do at minimum that I've played with.

I've been playing with 1.1 - the custom instrument import works well but the ongoing lack of a step sequencer swing control means it still has no ass in its pants.
Still this is just 1.1 and I remain hopeful...

Hi Image Line
Just wanted to thank you for the 1.1. update. With audio copy and import of own instruments you have just transformed it from a 2009 app to a 2011 app.
Of course, this will only probably just make people nag about the next things on their endless wish-lists, but I think you deserve credits for such a fast update and not at least the priority of such essential functions.
You have had a really good take off so far and I urge you to keep FL mobile going in the same spirit.
All the best

It's not that the app costs £12 - it's the fact that you have to pay £12 to run the app in a different resolution.kmonkey wrote:You can call me crazy but i am finding that people which whine for about ~£12 for application price is pretty much hilarious.
It annoys me, but hey - I bought it on the iPhone so I'll make do with that

FWIW we are not fans of this situation either. We would rather have a universal app. However we are working this way on advice that it's better to have a top-charting iPad app and a lesser iPhone app than to be lost completely in the iPhone charts where it would be if it were universal.audington wrote:It's not that the app costs £12 - it's the fact that you have to pay £12 to run the app in a different resolution.kmonkey wrote:You can call me crazy but i am finding that people which whine for about ~£12 for application price is pretty much hilarious.

No matter what version you purchased, plenty of free updates are on the way.
Next up in the FL Mobile ecosphere will be FPC and DirectWave exporting direct to .instr files and DirectWave importing .instr files you can load your custom projects/sounds in FL Studio.
Loops need to be imported into FL Mobile too, we are working on that also.
BTW: If you are a FB-er we have a page to keep up to date with...

Thanks Scott, the situation does indeed suck a little for both of us, just for different reasons
The updates are great, so thanks for that. I'll hold out on buying the iPad version till you run a sale on it, and make do with the iPhone version in the mean time

FPC and DirectWave installers are now available with .instr export.

This allows you to create FL Studio Mobile instruments from whatever you have loaded.

That's kool but what I'd really like is the ability to audiopaste to a drum pad or sampler channel. I have lots of other great music software on my iPad and it would be wonderful to sequence some of those sounds in FL Mobile instead of being dependent on a desktop computer to make new sounds.
And please, for the love of Bob, give us a swing control on the step sequencer!

FPC seems to work, but Direct Wave (FL Producer verSion) does not. The Moble export is grayed out, and sampling does not work. Just like the demo video said.....
Really, the whole process is so tied to a PC, it defeats the true mobile experience for me. Great app, but I'll stick with fully mobile apps......
