I just started to get into using MIDI with my iPad over a long weekend vacation. I have to say that I am really looking forward to this device and wish IK good business with ongoing development of it. I plan to purchase the device as soon as it is released.
This product appears to solve multiple nagging issues that I have discovered in one compact unit, especially that it can power and charge the iPad.

This is all very interesting.
I have a question, and I apologize if it was already answered:
what kind of latency can we expect from an Iphone or an Ipod Touch when playing Sampletank in a live setting?
thank you

I just want to know when the bastad thing is going to be out!!
Digital Village gave me the option of cancelling my pre-order as they didn't have an ETA. end of September was stated previously but that's not far away now & no sign of it yet. Should I just by a MIDI mobilizer II instead?!

It will be low enough that you won't notice any.lotsakeys wrote:This is all very interesting.

Cool stuff, looking forward to it.ObiK wrote:
Yup! And now with the worlds first rompler for iOS you can have the same sounds from Miroslav, SampleMoog and the upcoming SampleTank 3 all on your iPhone!
Although I wouldnt say the first rompler, since ios apps like nanostudio, sunvox, come with, and let you load your own samples and pass them throug their synthesis, effects, filters, etc. Actually quite a few others come to mind as well.
Perhaps the first full fledged rompler with multi range/velocity sample presets. Imho i just wouldnt tot it as 'the worlds first'
Good luck, will be pleased to see the results.

Maybe a stupid question, but I haven't seen it stated in any literaturew. Will we be able to load our own samples mapped to specific keys? It would be great to use this instead of my laptopBrian @ IK Multimedia wrote:David, SampleTank iOS will have the best of the best already included - strings from Miroslav, synths from SampleMoog, new sounds from the upcoming SampleTank 3, and a whole lot more.

Love the videos!
A couple of questions for the IK guys.. I won't be using it with an iPhone or iPod, should I wait for the iPad release? Or is it going to be updated to be a universal app? Waiting for an official word on that..
Also, how much are the in app expansions? And are the instruments in the videos part of the base app or are they expansions?
EDIT..
A lot more info on IK's site today.. Basically it'll cost $50 for the app and all available sounds, which isn't bad to me considering the cost of a dedicated rompler module.
Still.. I don't want to spend $50 and then find out that it'll be another $50 for a dedicated iPad version. What's the word IK? If it's going to be a universal app in an update then I'm buying today..

Very interesting. A small request: add mini-usb for Mac/PC connectivity. I'd love to use a wired connection with Core MIDI apps and Logic to get rid of silly WiFi latencies.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:IK Previews Three New Products at Summer NAMM 2011
iRig MIDI connects all MIDI keyboards, drum machines, drum pads, pedal boards and more to an iOS device to control not only the included SampleTank FREE* but also a world of standard Core MIDI-compatible apps such as GarageBand and many others. iPad has been the music making device for some time noe. Not the iPhone.
