It confused enough users and garnered enough complaints to qualify as a usability issue definitely. My suggestion would be to have one icon for each direction, not arrows and squares of the same general size and color. It makes no functional sense.MaxSynths wrote:Are you serious? Do you realize that the arrows are graphic elements to indicate the function of the corresponding knob?? You can say that you don't like it but you can't call it a bug. This is funny!braj wrote: having an arrow that you can't click and a square that you can IS a usability bug.
This is a quick blurb from Wikipedia:
Goals of usability testing
Usability testing is a black-box testing technique. The aim is to observe people using the product to discover errors and areas of improvement. Usability testing generally involves measuring how well test subjects respond in four areas: efficiency, accuracy, recall, and emotional response. The results of the first test can be treated as a baseline or control measurement; all subsequent tests can then be compared to the baseline to indicate improvement.
Performance -- How much time, and how many steps, are required for people to complete basic tasks? (For example, find something to buy, create a new account, and order the item.)
Accuracy -- How many mistakes did people make? (And were they fatal or recoverable with the right information?)
Recall -- How much does the person remember afterwards or after periods of non-use?
Stickiness -- How much time he/she spends
Emotional response -- How does the person feel about the tasks completed? Is the person confident, stressed? Would the user recommend this system to a friend?

So I would say the arrows confuse people, make them click the wrong element, increases their time to use the app, and definitely the demo timeout reduces the amount of time someone will demo the app. I'd call that damn voiceover a usability bug too because it is grating on my nerves at least, I would write it us, whether it is fixed depends on the developer but my gripe would be fully valid.
