I bought it way back for sadly much more money and never use it.
I think it is not very good, mainly because of the terrible Sampletank-like Interface.
But hey it's just 29 EUR, so wth.

Have not heard a lot about this plug-in. Yes it's IK.. so the marketing bots will say "it's the best and most accurate Moog ever"
Anyway, $30/€25 is a good price but I think it's more a plug-in warming the shelf

It's a "sample"moog. Some important aspects of the real instruments are simply not there.
However, I bought it anyway. I had the hope that some of the memorymoog sounds were quite usable.
Compared to my own moog and the reference samples of the memorymoog from RL it doesn't come close.
I can imagine that it was a lot of work to put it all together but I see me using it only for quick demos if at all.
Summary: It's a great offer regarding price vs effort but not regarding the sound.
You can compare it yourself:

Installed the demo version to check it out but it doesn't load any patches?! Did I miss something? On OSX 10.7
I am only interested in the raw waveforms of these synths.. For polyphony and tuning reasons. Is every key sampled or does it rely on interpolating some pitches? Round robin? Do you hear loops in the samples? And most importantly, can you rip the raw samples from the package without breaking the EULA or resorting to "hacks"? I'd really prefer to load these samples into kontakt, but if I have to use the sampletank engine for playback, I guess that is acceptable too (but would still suck)
IMHO it's pretty foolish from IK to think that you can get an authentic moog sound from a sample and just apply a generic dsp filter on top.. a lot of the sound comes from the filter, you can't just ignore it like that ;D (this does not concern me however as I can run the samples through my HW moog filter)

I got it in the Total Workstation 2 Bundle sale recently where I got a whole bunch of stuff with discounts for $90. I agree it wouldn't be anywhere near worth the full price, but at $30 I think it's a decent deal. Surprisingly, I find the theremin useable as well.

I hope you haven't pulled the trigger on that one, my friend! Film Orchestra I and II are Cinematik split in two!Aloysius wrote: Film Orchestra Vol I. sounds awesome. I reckon I'll add that for Free.
I saw some familiar patch names when they came out, did a one to one comparison and sure enough, Cinematik!
One is focused on the more standard orch instruments and pads (with a few exceptions), the other, the sound designed patches with sound effects built into the samples.
I guess the reasoning was if you want more meat and taters, you go with Vol. I, the more exotic sci-fi stuff, Vol II.
So I'd get Cinematik and get both for the price of one!

I have never used any of it!
Actualy 90$ wasted.
I suspect a lot of people will buy this and then never use it.....

Thanks Xenobt. Well, it's free, and I've ordered already. To be honest; I've so many presets now that I doubt I'll ever get around to hearing all of them even once.Xenobt wrote:I hope you haven't pulled the trigger on that one, my friend! Haha. Well, you can say that about a lot of products. SampleTron alone is worth $90 IMO.SLiC wrote:I got the same deal, was a 'too good to miss no brainer'donato wrote:I got it in the Total Workstation 2 Bundle sale recently where I got a whole bunch of stuff with discounts for $90. It is literally sampled recordings of real Moogs. Oh and ours happens to be officially approved by Moog unlike others. Plus you can use this along with our other Virtual instruments with in SmapleTank FREE.4damind wrote:Have not heard a lot about this plug-in. I have a question.
I find the loading to be quite slow in SampleMoog. Especially the Combi's. It even seems a bit unresponsive, to the point of hanging. In stand-alone mode the Combi drop-down menus can just stall there for quite a long period of time.
Would it be more efficient to use the SampleMoog sounds in SampleTank? I have the full version of ST2 XL.
I would prefer to use the SampleMoog interface but if I need to use the SampleTank one, how can I make sure that SampleTank sees not only the SampleMoog Presets but also, the SampleMoog Combi's as well?

It is undoubtedly good value if you need moog samples, personally I just never find myself using it, probably as I am now to old to read the tiny GUI on my monitor
