This thing is AwOxium!
I'm not a sound designer but last night (hours into the night!) I was able to manage some good noise out of this thing. Refreshing.
I'm still up against the wall with Xils 3 (no a good start for someone learning sound making like me) but with Oxium is another story.

I'll tell you one thing. It can drag up some sync bass from hell and stamp it in your brain. The Drive on this is real pleasing to me as well. It plays quite nicely with the Res. Yes, it's a special beast, this one. Adding the OSC together and being able to modulate phase can bring in some pleasing thickness. Looking forward to Michael's wild dog bass patches that he'll surely trick out of it. :D

OMG, Kevin Ford has killed the bass competition

jumpercable wrote:Can I just add how much I love this synth! Theres something about it - it has this sort of hyper-real, vivid sound to it. Its hard to describe.

The combined filter sections allow for this sort of "open" sound. Even when rolling the filter lower, it keeps that distinct presence, warming up without getting muddy. Theres this "modern" sound to it while retaining vintage characteristics and a bit of quirk!

The oscillators have this sort of.. string quality to them...? Not in some cheesy string emulation way, but just how almost natural each of the waveforms sound and respond. But thats probably just my own way of perceiving things.
no, it's not your way, i feel the same with very good virtual synth or with analogue synth.
i discovered it the first time i listened to my oberheim matrix 1000 : hyper-real, vivid sound, i called differently though : natural reverb
Thanks

This is one thing that imo share all Xils synths : They are organic, and never sound ridiculous in a mix, and yes they have a private life of their own :)

Waters are flowing : Love streams.
This said expect now more on July 21rst.
The preset test Team is working hard to rate the best patches atm : This will be extremely difficult imo, because I must say that I'm really amazed by the quality of the patches sofar. :o :o
Ah, nice to hear of the progression of the Love Streams. So only thing left is to sort patches? Excellent, although I'm having a hard time going completely through the initial presets because I can't keep my hands off her knobs when I open it up. :D

A request: Global tuning/pitch - As it stands it extends a mere single Oct in either direction. Can we get -36 and +36 semi at some point?

@Jumpercable - I *think* the behavior is due in part to the linear Exp (Ch.pressure) source is trying to modulate an exponentially ranged Env stage (notice the concavity of the Envs response, how the first part of the range is broader increments and then twisting the knobs to the right begin to increase exponentially until the very end where there is very fine adjustment b/t say 50000ms to 150000ms) - It's like this in a lot of HW as well. The stages would have to be linear in order for full Pressure to mod that destination to 100% of it's total potential.

Cheers!
For the Global tuning pitch : Its just a convenient way to quickly adapt patches to keyboard, and it should be seen just like a +1/-1 octave button on your physical keyboard, then it add a transpose function as well.

If you want to further modulate, or just set, the global pitch just use the mod matrix : As an example, set Aux EV to just sustain max, and then assign it in the mod matrix to whatever global pitch range you want ( -48,+48 ST is available). I agree its not as convenient as to use the Global tuning/pitch but well its a turnaround.

Then I hope you'll have a good summer when there will be approx 250 factory presets if the 62 currently included already bring you joy and inspiration :)

The sync will be present in quite a lot of patches of the final fact library. Some patches using this feature are really strong, also when combined with the drive : Hope you'll like them !

Thanks LiquidSounds, you're touching very close the base concept of Oxium :

A simple, intuitive, synth, easy to operate, but with many unique features.

Nobody mentioned it at this point but did anybody noticed that with the EV/LFO the Effect tab visible, you have a complete simple analog synth view, with : Oscillators and their crossmod functions, two complete filters, the dual mixer, three sophisticated envelopes, three LFOs, the Glide module, all global functions, all FX, the Arp, the "analog" buttons : All this in a quite spacy and non cluttered UI :)

I think this is why sound design, or just creating, or adapting patches to context, is so fast and intuitive with Oxium.

......... Until you discover the inspiring beauty and power of Le Masque and the central modulation page, and realize that you can go much much further than with an average 2 osc synth : But you dont need to, it's only if you want/need to go deeper in the advanced modes, so really I think we have achieved with Oxium a good combination of variable approaches in sound creation, with both easy and advanced modes intuitive possible switching.

Otoh Xils 3 is a "complex by nature" modular synth, wich is intended to give nights of modular delight to people wanting to push this kind of synths to the extreme ( but note that will the Xilistic soundset for Xils 3 you can have templates for a lot of B'n'b sounds with litte effort, we've made it for you :))

Thanks Christophe,

Yes this have been reported a few times.

Hmmmm This should be fixed in the 0.94 version. What version do you use atm ?

Btw what do you think of this (kind of) "intelligent info feedback" pane ?

We implemented it to help people to decipher a patch very quickly. ( Something like "oh I can hear filter modulations in this patch, a quick glance at the info pane, and I now know all the modulations involved in the filter behaviour, so I can modify my patch to fit context very easily" and also deconstruct it, so eventually I think it's great for educational purposes for those who wat to dig a bit more into synthesis )

Ive just bought it 5 minutes ago, im wondering if you plan on expanding the presets it comes with as 250 seems a bit measly when compared with the other synthesizers, i was considering getting ACE because it has 500+, but chose to get this for something new. Any ideas??
