What's gonna happen to our plugins when Windows 8 launches?

I don't normally follow Windows threads but I'm glad I checked this one out - fking delivers big style.

Are those anything similar to the 'robot lobsters on a bike' that frequent these parts ?

32 bit plugins will stop working. Your 64 bit plugins will demand to be updated to 128 bit. They won't like the folder they're in. Developers all around the globe will simultaneously charge for updates while blowing their brains out.

Nothing. Unless of course you decide to install it to be used with the plugins.
Never jump on a new os untill the ones who did jump have taken care of forcing the company to re-code the bugs.
Win7 64bit works ok, so why change? To sponsor M$?

Dunno where you grew up but both terms were explicit insults when I was a kid/teen. It was social poison to be considered either, and rather emotionally damaging. I take exception to this new techno marketing and social meme of "geek is sexy" because it was the exact opposite back when the words were thrown at me because I happened to be a computer user or spoke intelligently.Bronto Scorpio wrote:"Geek" isn't offensive just as "Nerd" isn't but some people use it that way. I'm a geek and a nerd and don't have a problem with that
I've gone from being a computer enthusiast that cared about technical details to being a "born again user" that finds it all insulting to users and overtly and unnecessarily complicated and retrograde. I want this crap to just be tools that work, but I'm awre enough of the technical trappings to know why, historically, it mostly has not worked as it should.
Computers cause a lot of anxiety to people that feel computer illiterate. That's why Apple's iOS devices are popular because they largely break that long lineage of user abuse. That's what earned my favor with Apple product, not some historic cultish thing (that and the feeling of being outright abused by Windows and computer component manufacturers while I attempted to maintain the belief that building PCs was the best choice).

verdict : Williams Brothers Caesar Augustus; actually quite a good pint. If you like IPAs, and can find it on draught, or even bottled, try it out.
