Well I wasnt really necessarily putting myself in the voting category...
I dont feel like I see 'whats going on' really, but I think there are people here who do.

People with the most time spent on the most boards here should have a truer sense of the tide. Maybe that is a bit optimistic though.
Honestly, its just very surprising to see ten pages on it. People feel strongly. And I just do not see it as even close to that kind of 'problem'.
Like I said way back- Imagine the opposite, where there are NO devs here. Or, they are afraid to talk about their own stuff. Or, their posts have a cloud over them, segregation, etc. I dont see that as a good thing.

I actually think the solution is people calling the offenders out in the moment, in the threads, and saying 'Hey buddy stfu about you and yours!'.
I think then the real motivations of the devs would be obvious.
If someone is recommending their random VA because it happens to also.. have a square wav, ask him why its the best choice. Maybe he knows something. Tell him to stfu if he is out his ass. I cant see it as more bad than good to have the creator involved.

Are there even more 'offenders' than can be counted on one hand?
I actually really honestly dont even know what everyone is on about, which is maybe more evidence that I dont know what is going on, but where are these posts? I cruise most of the sub forums reading at least. What/Who is it?

Yes, that would be the best solution. However, life doesn't always move along nicely - in fact it almost never does. You (the proverbial one) see it happen a few times, and you shake your head and move on. No need to make a fuss about it. You see it happen again and again and again... and you're getting annoyed, but still move on because, let's face it: who cares?

Basically, it's about missing the right moment. At some point you feel like saying something, but you also feel you're enough annoyed already that you might come across as angry, even aggressive or just simply intolerant. And again you don't speak up. I know, not everyone is like this, but a lot of people are, myself included.

Eventually the annoyance has grown so much that you can't keep it to yourself any more, and your options are a) growing an ulcer or b) make a post and vent. I guess, the OP was at that point. So take it with a grain of salt and remember that things building up over time can develop a life of their own.

And as for examples: you (usually) don't keep logs of something like this. You just make the repeated observation and take notes in your memory. And of course you're also getting more and more sensitive to the case over time - which doesn't help either.

in one case for me a rep who is a good friend of mine (I hope) I have noticed that when I brought up this point in a positive manner in a thread I have been shunned not only by him since but also the community of the user base for that company (of which I am a part of). While my intentions were noble and trying to point out something quite a few others have pointed out as well I walked away feeling bad and as if I should never have offered my honest opinion. Note, I never told anyone they should take my advice, I just pointed out my observations.

I'm very careful in this thread not to name names because it's not a witch hunt for me, I'm only trying to share the observations of someone who has been on both sides of the retailer/customer table. I do not believe directly pointing fingers at anyone in this thread will help, nor do I think those same devs and/or reps will be receptive to positive criticism in other threads if I call them out and it will only lead to locked threads and hard feelings. (something that is quite evident in this thread)

BTW I do keep a log, I have a folder in my bookmarks called "threads saved"...it's not just KvR either...when I save a thread I note in the link title what it references.

I suspect we'll stop having devs telling people their own synth is the best (which is prefectly legitimate in the right context IMO) when we stop having eejits posting "what's the best synth?" threads several times a day. Or those fuckwit threads "synth A vs. B" when in fact A and B aren't even remotely connected.

I find often the questions asked deserve the answers given...
