Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:kgdrum, your old authorizations are moot from this point on.
You have 5 new auths with T-RackS CS FREE, which will then pull in your existing T-RackS/CSR registrations into the the new version.
So ignore the message that says only 1 auth left?
And what about CSR? Which I think it actually was?
Thanks

I've been following this thread all day but I still have a question. If I install the free TRacks3 Custom Shop version now available in our User Area it will find and authorize all my previous TRacks Deluxe plugins and my CSR? Then I can use the CSR reverbs in the new Custom Shop version? Without overwriting or breaking the authorizations of my current TRacks/CSR standalone vst versions? :)

If you install the TRacks Custom Shop application and login to the same account as your previous TRacks3 Deluxe and CSR were registered upon, you should see all of them automatically listed as 'purchased' in the Custom Shop.

Then, you can have it spit out the individual DLLs for each by choosing the 'Restore my gear' option under the 'Account' or 'Gear' menu option in the Custom Shop app (forget which).

This doesn't break your current auths.. its a totally different auth (Custom shop).

Wouldn't have been easier assigning a weight to every single device you already own (no matter if you bought it as a single or in a package) and then calculating a custom discount based on how close you're from to bundle you want to upgrade to? Say you have the classic compressor and the 670: you would have just one device out of four if you were to buy the classic bundle and two out of nine if you were to go for the deluxe. If you got the upgrade to the classic, then you would own 5/9 of the deluxe... I'm thinking to something like Ohm Force's Cohmpletion.

Just my opinion, I'm not a marketing man. :|

Anyway, the British eq guy looks a bit 2000-like, with those colours... but I think it makes sense because, in my opinion, it's easier to associate a colour to a function (for example: red > tweak the highs) than looking for a control just by its position. Msybe the result is a bit... "toyish?" from an aestetic point of view, but I think it's still a good design from the point of view of usability.
And, given the 2000-like style, you can still say that you wanted to add a vintage touch! I'm just joking.
Seriously, my only doubt is about the specular placement of gain and q on low mids and hi mids... I'm already seeing myself swearing because I want to change the gain on both but I grab the q on the hi mids... colours make me think by repetitive patterns, so the mistake.

This is just a first impression, I'm waiting to actally demo it....

The calibration has changed for the Black 76.

For unity gain on a VU-levelled drumloop here, I got :

- OLD : IN = -29dB / OUT = -11dB
- NEW : IN = -39dB / OUT = -12dB

Wondering why the changes, whereas on the 2A, it's :

- OLD : GAIN = 23.5
- NEW : GAIN = 23.5

By the way, there is a difference in peak of +1dB for the new versions.

With the old versions, the peak level is the same in and out. With the new, the peak level is +1dB after entering the plugin.

Why is that ?

I see it's not possible to demo a gear as a single.

You're forced to demo it through the Custom Shop.

That's bad :(.

I don't mind it in general, it just looks unfinished, like a mock up that will have some skilled talent come in and pretty up before release, but someone forgot to do that. Or time ran out? It really 'feels' pretty different in quality from the other plugins.

Here's a really similar GUI but done better, and I'm sure this could be dramatically improved as well:

Was the idea to give it an 80's New Wave lo-fi kind of look?

maybe I'm odd, but in this era of meticlously 3d rendered interfaces trying desparately to look realer than the real hardware I actually find the IK approach refreshingly honest (it's just a plugin, it's not real hardware, meticulously modelling bakelite knobs seems vaguely ridiculous).

voxengo interfaces are just as 'colourful' as this - yet no-one seems to mind that?

But then I also like the i/f on Massive (and the 'metro' interface on MauSynth) for much the same reasons...maybe I've spent too long staring at Mondrian's?

It's about context, the rest of the IK gear is aping real hardware, so this just looks completely weird in the rack to my eyes. I don't need photo-realistic, but when everything else is in one style, I would expect them to maintain that consistently.

since this is their newest product maybe it's a sign they're going to drop the (rather dated/done to death/kitschy) 'fake vintage rack' look and go to this across the board?

I'd certainly like a version of CSR without all the dead space, hard to read fake LED displays and with ALL the controls on one page (no modality)

It's truly VERY bad! I wouldnt be surprised if you continue to see a lot more comments and questions. Considering IKM is among the best in UI design, I was genuinely surprised to see that
