Isn't any piano just a set of buttons? When I start to feel like being an 'electronic musician' is cheating, I remember that a pen and paper were what tools were available for composing for the classical masters, I'm guessing they had some written guides on harmony and chords maybe, and that we just have new tools at our disposal. Using them in composing isn't cheating, ultimately we are trying to give voice to our inspiration and it is the end result that matters.

It's which buttons we choose and which order that counts.bitcrusher wrote:its pretty true, just some of us push more buttons than others!musikmachine wrote:And they say all we do is push buttons.

I loaded it up in Cantabile and the interface is quite small but it could my my res. Just really briefly tried the chord mode and it's great! My controller only has 3 octaves so this will allow me to string some more complex chords together! It's great being able to input your own and try out different combinations.

Absolutely, one's mastery of said buttons is another matter!braj wrote:Isn't any piano just a set of buttons? I don't think it's cheating unless your a purist, i love creative tools like this, just found Aiynzahevs post funny. Having tried it i'm loving the Arp! Will be good to use this to create the chords and then extract basslines and melodies just by switching modes. I think plugins like this can help put things like theory into context as well.
Recording into Maschine works really well anyway. Yep, bit of a no-brainer this one. Latch mode would be great, definitely.
Anyway awesome plugin Steve, cheers!

It is a very creative tool, great for getting you thinking a different way and using chords I never even knew existed.
Most importantly of all it's fun to use.

I haven't read all of the thread, so forgive me if this has been asked. Is there an easy way to have the arp spread the chord over multiple octaves without doing it manually on the Octave tab? Like the "octaves"/"octave range" setting on most arps (like Kirnu).

Hi paterpeter, Not really.. Because the arp isn't usually following a typical arp "shape", the octave graph is the way to usually achieve octaves when you want them.paterpeter wrote:I haven't read all of the thread, so forgive me if this has been asked. If you are using a typical Arp shape (and if this becomes requested a few times) I could look in to ways to make the shape span multiple octaves (maybe through a hotkey on the graph)..
Keep in mind you can slow down the octave graph (so the Arp changes octave every 4 steps, for instance). The other option is using the 1-8 step assignments, which will wrap up octaves, e.g. 3-note chord-> selecting "4" will give you step 1, up an octave.

Definitely! Wasn't sure about the bach chorales and classical chords but i've found a use for some them although the progressions are...unpredictable!
I've been using tonespace to record chords into Cthulhu, really good combination.

Is there any way to get it to show up as a midi effect in sonar x2? I can get it to work, but it is a pita to set up and if it showed up as a midi effect it would make my workflow faster.
