Hi KVRians!

Just giving the heads up for

http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet.php
and
http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/quartet.php

Personally the duet will be more than enough for my needs.
A tad expensive but let's hope the quality will be appropriate!

BTW This is not your usual ipad support through CCK.
This is dedicated 30 pin connector with idevice charging capabilities!

Support offered for lighting adapter too :)

Can't wait!

My headphone socket still works just fine.

Btw. Looking at that Apogee promo picture... How is this any different from using a proper laptop and a midi keyboard? Except that these iToys are a lot pricier, and lower quality.

Ah, why do i bother

I tried my NI Komplete Audio with iPad. It works.
But it's such a hassle, it defeats the purpose of the iPad, with all this cables, no charging, no proper stand. I'd rather use a laptop.
I can't see how it makes sense to use iPad for recording drums.

Wireless MIDI triggers in drums + a stereo overhead pair above kit would be nice though, is that possible?

One way would be to hack Guitar Hero drum controller:

I'm planning to upgrade my first gen Duet soon to either a new Duet for iOS/Mac, or the new ONE.
If time permits I'll make a thorough walkthrough/review and post it to YouTube.

Did you have to update the firmware to get it to work? I noticed the KA6 got an updated FW when Traktor DJ was released for the iPad. My AK1 didn't so I just assumed it won't work with the iPad.

Actually, scratch that. Further googling shows the AK1 isn't class compliant (the KA6 is).

Does it require a hub?

No, the new Apogees run off their own DC power, and they actually charge the iOS device when plugged in.
The new ONE can run off of batteries as well. That's what is tempting me to get the ONE instead of the DUET, the built in mic on the ONE and it being able to run off of AA batteries is pretty sweet. The DUET has 4 outputs though, plus the soft-limit functionality which the ONE doesn't have.
