Hey Theo,
Given that you referenced compassion, how do you think blue cats dynamic compares? Is it as configurable ? Both are similar priced... I know you said the hold feature unique.

I bought it years ago, and remember it being a lot like Marquis in that it was great for spikey, distorted drum compression. It was a cool sound. After a while, I just kind of lost track of it.
As a result of this thread, I tried to install it again, downloaded the demo, and no-luck. There doesn't appear to be a way to authorize the demo using the serial number I have.
So I checked the manual, that says to go to the original download link in the email and redownload it, but that doesn't work either.
So I ask: how does one get updates to Blue Cat plugins? I know I can email Guillaume, but I have to think I'm doing something wrong here and there's a better way.

Blue Cat moved the files around a couple of years ago so the old download links don't work. The demos can't be activated with a serial. They send out update emails but I dropped off the list for a while until I emailed them about a similar problem.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:So I ask: how does one get updates to Blue Cat plugins? I raved about this compressor a lot (with tons of audio examples) back in the day of it's release but was greeted with similar enthusiasm..
It's a very flexible compressor, especially considering how powerful it was when it was released. A bit ahead of it's time really.
Perhaps the GUI or complexity is scaring people away?

You are so correct!
Just the way it seems to always go ; the really good stuff goes under the radar whilst the pack chases it's proverbial tails !!.
Ths developer has the best work ethic ever and is constantly improving his plugs. My purchases of Blue Cat products are some of the best I've ever made . Constant updates and improvements go on and on whilst many other pluggs that where bought at the same time have never been touched again by the devs....
I salute you; !! Good Kitty !!

hype is it's own end. people who generate hype have a common goal, regardless of who they work for - to get prospective customers excited about buying stuff.
if you are a retailer who doesn't focus on hype, what value are you to those who do? the hype train moves on to hyper pastures.
you really don't think _all_ these people who log on every day to praise products are doing so because they are out of options for hedonism otherwise?

I'll have to give it a go too, but so far I am pretty much convinced in buying DMG audio stuff and being done with it. Between this and abletons built in EQ and glue I am feeling less and less inclined to test anything else because it will just hamper my creativity.
I have been kind of interested in the Bluecatz visualizer package though.

There must be a few developers who wish Dave would get bored with audio and head for pastures newV0RT3X wrote:I'll have to give it a go too, but so far I am pretty much convinced in buying DMG audio stuff and being done with it. I have the oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer and they're great.

Though not being a fanboy neither of Theo nor of Blue Cat Audio, I really like their stuff. I have all the free plugins (not from Theo, but from Blue Cat Audio
), and if I want to have a simple, but great EQ, I use the Triple EQ. Sometimes I don't need to make many adjustments, and then the Triple EQ is my go-to EQ, because it needs less CPU and works flawless. And I like their chorus, phaser, analyzer, panning plugins, etc.
All the other stuff of Blue Cat Audio is also great!
If I would have more money, I would buy (regarding effects and dynamic processors) all things from Blue Cat Audio, Meldaproduction, Fabfilter and Brainworx...
