Plenty of options
I use The Drop and the Moog filter (great drive but UAD only) - also have Fxpansion Etch, its a really nice filter too with plenty of options and go nasty as well but mainly using The Drop at the moment, demo it and youll see why :hihi:

I wanna play too!

Here's some awesome freeware that do great resonant sweeps.

Frohmage, OhmyGod (magware), the old red one from TAL (with LFO + audio trigger), the old free Bifilter from Tone2 (many filter types).

For mixing, I usually throw in Engenieer's Filter, ReaQ, GBand/Low/High or whatever I have around. Then there's those handy ones that can be switched between low, high or band pass like the KarmaFX one, the TAL mfilter or Rubber Filter.

There's tones out there, but I'm trying to be minimalistic. It's not like I have all those in my drive at the same time

And for good measure, a screencap of probably the best one of the bunch for destruction-type filtering. The knobs have inertia physics coded in and feel a bit like you're turning heavy knobs. It's also the one that will pull off the best 2112 intro :)

I can't believe no one mention FXPansions Etch ! Really nice filters and a crazy modulation setup too.

I love the tone2 filters, and WOK has a moogesque filter that I still love n use.

There was a free filter that was really well put together, and I used it until I went full 64bit and it didn't bridge well. Might do now, problem is I cant remember it's exact name

Was a 4 rule filter or sommat like that. 1 rule filter ? Dunno lol
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

It was mentioned a few times early on, but I agree with you - great filter plugin and definitely something the OP should check out.

I forgot about Etch - it's pretty good as well.

.oO(Buy Kontakt or make due with the instruments I have now and buy The Drop?)

The Drop seems to be the most highly suggested filter in this thread.

I don't like the "No Transfers" bit, though. :?

I'm surprised that nobody seems to have mentioned AQ's Naive Filter yet.

Sounds very nice, cuts through audio like a knife through butter and can resonate like crazy. And it's free :)
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

No point in messing with anything other than The Drop at this point I reckon

Unless you want features it doesn't have, in which case look elsewhere no?

/* static noise */
It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?
