Vote for your Top 10 favorite compositions, in order (most-favorite = #1, proceed downward).
Voting ends on early a.m. (US Central Time), Saturday, June 1.
No voting for yourself. Voters must have had 20 prior posts, or at least have participated in the contest this month.
Once you place your vote, you cannot change it, unless permission has been granted by the moderator.
In the case of equal scores after voting, entries will be separated by how many 10 pts (i.e., how many #1 votes) they got, then 9 pts and so on. (Thanks to OSC for this rule.)
You must participate in voting to win prizes!

1 ) evo2slo - a mother's work
this has such a classic sound to it..i'm getting shades of simon & garfunkel, rolling stones, cat stevens and loads more that are on the tip of my tongue
love the live band sound…great harmonies….
agree that the lyrics are sometimes perhaps a little twee, and kinda at odds with the music, but overall it is just a great tune
you sir are my winner
2 ) beanpole - subterranean call centre blues
haha, love this….smiling all the way through, especially when you say "shite"….great to here a solid scots accent in a choon; no putting on a yank voice
in fact the whole thing sounds great…sounds raw and polished at the same time - punk and pop
fu*ken loved it
3 ) aziraphal - building a cathedral
great choon this….that wah-ooo backing vocal might not fit the sentiment of the song exactly (if i knew i'd be served cheese, i would've asked for some crackers), but it makes me smile in a kind of 70's/80's bbc tv children's show, theme-tune kinda way
anyways, really enjoy this…very high standard….won't bore everyone repeating thoughts of time limits

great job
4 ) kryptonaut - shaman
liked this a lot….haha, when i first heard it when you uploaded i already resigned myself to the fact i wouldn't win this month hahaha (and maybe never)
great atmosphere in the beginning…..great production in the verse
chorus feels a little rushed at first…probably just the big contrast, but then soon settles….nice singalong stuff
totally brings to mind 'the mighty boosh', which i feel a very high compliment
well done sir
5 ) off the wall - raise 'em up higher
this is very well crafted to sound like an authentic ol' time recording, and works really well….the vocals are proper eerie though lol, but that makes it better…
feel the harp and guitar swallow the whole thing up too much, although i can also imagine that to be a conscious decision speaking to the fidelity and quality of recordings of that era…either way, i reckon it could have been more laid back in the mix, and also taken out at various points
good job
6 ) d.h. miltz - grab a broom
love how this starts out…very evocative opening…loved the sounds…i'm with ruedi wishing for a little more tightness to really get the foot tapping along…also would have wished for some contrasting percussive patterns to set the whole thing dancing…it's all good though, especially given the last-minute-ness of the composition
i noticed you didn't credit the creaky door, nor whoever walked through it
7 ) patrick9 - immigrant blues
how does someone who can't stand the blues review this favourably ?? well, i'll try
erm, it sounds like blues
…nah, just joking
not bad, although for this type of thing the rhythm needs to really drive…the rhythm section really needs to be a bit more locked in….
the bass and drums aren't so 'out' for most of it, but the drums aren't mixed with enough impact to give the drive…it is the guitar though, that is too rushed at times..this sometimes leaves it to fall apart
a major plus ?? the lyrics and the picture….not trying to apply salve here, i just happen to think the picture to be evocative and the lyrics very much to fit
i'm hoping this is taken constructively, as is the intention
8 ) irion da ronin - machinen
like the intro…settles well into the mid-section, with great elements making up the percussion which has a good lilt to it….into the third section - stunning soundtrack stuff here…coulda done without the big beat coming in, for my personal enjoyment….kinda blame the 3-minute limit as it seems to push people to throw in elements that don't get time to naturally develop, ending up feeling forced/wedged in…nothing gets a chance to breathe
overall, really liked it…hit me up if you ever make the 5 minute version
9 ) ruedirena - work dance work
hahaha, oh dear….on the negative side, it's cold, clinical, harsh, rigid, bare, and not enjoyable to listen to…..on the positive side, it's cold, clinical, harsh, rigid, bare, and not enjoyable to listen to…given the intention to make a robot work song, i'd say you have succeeded …even when dancing they are barely able to enjoy themselves
10 ) nikp2000 - wage slaves
not a bad piece, just doesn't really stand out for me…like the percussive elements and the kinda relentless slave-like forward motion, but there is nothing else really going on to really grab me
--------------------------------------------------------------------
-- clarago - dig
took me till half way through to find anything (aside from the attached jpeg), that hinted at "work song"…then the vocals came in, but were way to quiet and unclear to really pick them out until the latter parts….but from what i can make out, lyrically, rhythmically and with that chant melody, it really would have worked as the focus…
if this turned on it's head, with the vocal/chant leading the way, i think it would have really worked better
-- laguna rising - white gloves
hmmmm ?? there's a lot of (i think) very interesting stuff going on underneath the ambient noise of the eatery, and it's a shame not to be able to hear it…
don't know if the intention for the music was to be like a restaurant band playing in the corner (though clearly not standard restaurant band fayre), but it all kinda turns out a bit too messy
this seems too random with the ambient sample and jpeg grafted on to fit in with the theme
…sorry, didn't really get it

·Patrick9 - Sorry, lack of points, but was a nice track.
·ClaRago - Theme rules. As i couldn't fit the abstract track with the theme. But i liked the track out of the context anyway, in fact in my playlist.
Well done to everyone.
