I don't really get what either of you are talking about.

I thought this was about just posting soundcloud links in hopes of getting listens and maybe even getting followers, obviously I should have either read more clearly or you need to clear up what you said (one or the other) But when you told me this is simply about the number and not the listeners, I retracted my link because I did not want to be part of that.

Totally fair enough. Why are you still posting?

Why would I follow someone who doesn't make music I like?

Who you follow is up to you. Why do you need to make a point about it?

At the start , soundcloud was an electronic music community.
Now , it has russell brand , audio books , and death-yodel-speedcore. I like none of these.

Hahaha. Technology speeds everything up. Even technophobia. I remember back in the day we only had record players, and back then it was all about the music, now it's all about the fandangled compressors and plugins and I don't know what...

As for that 300% rise. Maybe you are genuinely good , or , maybe its initial curiosity for a few weeks and will return to normal. Last week , one of my tracks had over 1000% , WITHOUT any promotion

That's very good for you. If you're getting so many hits, why do you need to post here? This is about shameless self promotion.

What the hell are you talking about? If you want to get in to economics, you'll have to develop your argument a bit further than just spouting a few generic terms from the discipline.

I dont want to condemn anyone.....im just tired of spam , and the "numbers game" .

Unfortunately, it is a numbers game whether you like it or not. Music has always been and always will be a numbers game. If it wasn't, why would you even care how many followers and listeners you received recently? I have no idea whether or not this thread will boost anyone's popularity or get anyone liked or not liked. It was an experiment plain and simple. In the process, quite a few people have exchanged comments and likes etc. for music so I can only see that as a positive thing.

If music wasn't a numbers game, I wouldn't even release anything on Sound Cloud or on other media. It would be utterly pointless to do so.

Its not a thread about economics Syncretia so im not gonna get into what I hinted at.
The point I was making is that this is exactly like a pyramid scheme. The only people who really benefit are the people at the top , ie...you.
By the time there are 100 people in this thread you will have had your 100 blind follows , but the person is is just joining it will be like " sod this , im not adding 100 people ", and the higher the number gets , the more the benefits diminish.

As for me getting over 1000% on a track without any promotion , I noticed because my phone is set to get email notification when people respond with likes , comments or follows. That particular day my phone didnt stop. It was actually kinda annoying cos if it happened all the time , id get nothing else done.

Anyway , ive made my points. Im not against anyone here. I just disagree with the practice and the principle of this , but , if you are actually trying your best to create stunning imaginative music , then good luck , but unfortunately I wont ge listening because these methods are pointless to me.

Exactly.

It started as a shameless exchange, but i have to say, since the opening of the thread i have been exposed to some very good artist which i would probably never encounter without this thread, and that's why i think this concept is great.
