I just created a Spire folder in Documents and put all Spire related stuff in there. It can go anywhere as all you are doing is loading in different banks, Spire is not accessing them all the time.fisherKing wrote:dumb question...where does the factory banks folder go on a mac??

Can you provide us with some stereoscope snapshots from Spire and any other synth by just using a saw wave? So we can see at least some proofs to your statements?pinkpanther wrote:And Spire still sounds as thin as a paper.

hahaha! Just ignore this kind of statement as people will always talk about how something sounds anecdotally.Igro wrote:Can you provide us with some stereoscope snapshots from Spire and any other synth by just using a saw wave? nice synth feature wise. i really like some features, like being able to mod the phaser freq with the "normal" lfos. unfortunately, the presets sound terribly to my likes. 90% of it scream trance. how about some presets in the deep house \ dub techno vein ? don't limit your synth to the trance crowd.

Quick question!
What's the best way to put note values into the Stepper?
The sequences that are provided in Factory 2 Bank...are ripped from various songs...and they sound great!
But how do you put notes in - other than trial and error with a mouse (which is not very accurate)...
Also _> A good idea - would be to use MIDI Channels 2 to 5...
MIDI Channel 1 => Triggers whole patch (all 4 oscs)...
Channel 2 => Osc 1 on its own,
Channel 3 -> Osc 2 on its own
4 = 3
5 = 4
Zebra would be good like this and so would any other synth with more than one oscillator!
In fact - there is a breathy flute / pan pipe preset in there which is great!
Osc 1 => Clarinet style sound...very simple - like a Vic 20..lol
Osc 2 => Noise waveform....slightly filtered...
Both sounds - when layered sound like a super breathy flute sound!
I'm wondering -> If you mixed in some noise - with a vocal track....if you would get that breathy Enya style effect.....perhaps using an envelope follower...any FX developers out there?
You could set your own up easily....
Just use your vocal track to trigger a gate...which controls the volume of a synthesized noise track...or breathy sampled sound...
(Omnisphere + Atmosphere have a "One Voice Crowd" preset)
The MIDI Channel idea....would be great...you could have some single presets that sound great with Stepper...
But then -> switch Stepper off...and you've got a great starting point for your own track!
1) Lead sound
2) Nice pad
3) Deep bass
4) An FX sound or arp patch....
You could do a full backing track - minus drums - with a single preset!
Now - the sounds would be mixed anyway by the preset designer who did the original patch...to sound right in the first place!
LOL At Dave!
Slagging off this synth - but then having to defend Dune...
Which does some sounds great - but listen to that "Paul Hardcastle Bass"..
There's LOADS of LAME patches on Dune...
Orion is also pretty lame....but since winning that license...you stick up for all the Synapse products and slag everything else off!
"The filters in Dune are a bit weak"
"SHUT UP -> 0DF are CRAP! Diva Sucks / Sylenth Sucks / "
"BUT -> Plucked String + Scorpion sound great!"
Seriously....Scorpion just sounds sterile and computer generated - like Albino...which only stood out because of the Bandpass filters which were new at the time in a plugin and great for pads...
FL Studio pissed on Orion....yet you will defend it and try to say something like SideChaining is done better in Orion - or was done their first - as a feeble defence!
Just stop slagging good stuff off and painting yourself into a corner...

Obviously - Dubstep is selling at the minute - and they want to make money - but there are still plenty of other sounds in there!

I have one response for you, really. Stop limiting yourself to presets, learn how synths work and you'll be able to make sounds yourself and not have to worry about being limited by what's providedhcv242 wrote:nice synth feature wise. i really like some features, like being able to mod the phaser freq with the "normal" lfos. unfortunately, the presets sound terribly to my likes. 90% of it scream trance. how about some presets in the deep house \ dub techno vein ? don't limit your synth to the trance crowd.
You can't blame them, a lot of the presets being created are from trance producers, and maybe the devs are trance producers themselves? I can't confirm this but I'd be willing to bet at least one of them is...
