sean, you need to EMAIL all your license holders when u have something new out (i think i mentioned this before...).
i have the reverb & shimmer plugins, but did not know about this until today.
just a humble suggestion... !

I don't want to presume that a customer wants emails from me, just because they once bought something. I like keeping things low-key.fisherKing wrote:sean, you need to EMAIL all your license holders when u have something new out (i think i mentioned this before...).

However, I may send out an email in the future, whenever the next plugin comes out, to all users, and have an opt-out feature prominently marked in there.

seriously....EVERY other developer sends an email every time ANYTHING changes (ie a plugin going from 1.01 to 1.02; or because they got a new puppy...)
the opt-out idea makes sense, but you make great plugins...keep your client base up-to-date!
and thank you for the great stuff....

I definitely want an email when a piece of software I bought was updated. What if there's a bugfix or feature we miss it as a result of not visiting forums or whatnot?valhallasound wrote:I don't want to presume that a customer wants emails from me, just because they once bought something. Do you want an opt-out function for those who may feel differently? Absolutely. But I think when it comes to updates, the majority will want/expect an email.
You're not alone in the low key appraoch (Andy from Cytomic does this, a few other indie devs I've bought plugins from) and frankly, as a customer I find it a little frustrating. It's like, "why didn't you tell me you fixed, or enhanced that?"

I get emails when the Valhalla products I own get updated. One question for Sean though. Is there a reason the patches in this thread are not cross-posted in the UberMod preset thread in the ValhallaDSP forum? While I do try to keep up with this thread, it would be nice to have all the presets in one location as much as possible.

I may have misread the initial post. "Something new" seemed to reference Ubermod as a plugin (i.e. a new plugin), not updates to Ubermod. Disregard. I already have that up and running. ÜberMod has only been updated once, so that email went out in early 2012. I'm updating everything right now for AAX, and will send out mass emails as the updates are available (the updates will also include updated VST/AU/RTAS).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: I definitely want an email when a piece of software I bought was updated. I think that the mailing service I use automatically adds an "unsubscribe" link, even to the update emails. I'm not sure why someone wouldn't want to know about the updates to the plugins, but the option is there.Do you want an opt-out function for those who may feel differently? Absolutely. I tell people via email when I have fixed/enhanced plugins that they have bought. I just haven't wanted to presume that people that have bought one plugin from me want to get a bunch of emails about plugins that they haven't bought. You're not alone in the low key appraoch (Andy from Cytomic does this, a few other indie devs I've bought plugins from) and frankly, as a customer I find it a little frustrating. Sorry Sean! In the post just prior to yours I had realized I misread the original post. Just a heads up: I updated the folder with UberMod presets on the patchpool FX page, it now contains 81 donationware-presets, some of them are variations on a theme. Grab them here.

I'm glad I've payed my dues some time ago...
SS (Sampleconstruct) is the first (and ONLY) sound designer I have donated to, in my life. never EVER before have I been so impressed with someone's work (regarding presets). maybe it's because I'm such a fanatic of those weird and heavenly textures, I don't know... the buttom line for me is that I see UberMOD+SS as a Formula 1 car : the sum is greater then it's constituents (Driver+Car = Sampleconstruct+UberMOD)
I have accumulated 185 presets from Simon's fine work for UberMOD, VVV and VRoom. I use them on a regular basic (not all of them, of course. but a lot of them).
As I've said somewhere else : these are worth their existence in gold.
Thank you, sir !

UberGuys, thank you for the UberPraise, UberMod is one of the most versatile soundtwisters on the global UberMarket, that's for UberSure. I think it's involved in almost everything I UberProduce in one way or the other.
