Just checked and yes it does. Sending via Jack Router from Bidule to Reaper in ML with no problems.
Energy XT in Crossover does show WineAsio as an Asio option but there are no listed inputs and outputs and it doesn't show up in the Jack OSX Connections Manager at all. Just tried Sonigen Modular and it doesn't even list WineAsio as an option.

I don't know, doesn't sound good. wish I could be more help, but I'm staying on SL for quite some time to come, so I have no idea about ML. But I would think wineasio should work as long as JackOSX is working and wine is working.

Post

It was doing it before I installed Mountain Lion. So that leads me to believe it has something to do with Crossover/Wine on this computer. The regsvr32 message never actually says the plugin is registered. Admittedly it never said it was registered on my Macbook where wineasio seems to work fine.

Post

Keen to know if anyone is having luck getting Wineasio to work on Mountain Lion with Wine or Crossover.
I'm not having any luck with it on my MacMini and admittedly I was having issues getting it to work before I updated to Mountain Lion. Works fine on my Snow Leopard Macbook.

Post

I'm having some problems with getting wineasio to function.

I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.4 on a 2012 MacBookPro.
I have JackOSX.0.90b15 installed.
VAZ Modular 3.2.4.exe is installed in a Windows 7 bottle inside Crossover 12.5.
VAZ functions fine as a standalone, except only MME and DirectSound drivers work from within VAZ Preferences/Audio panel.

Dewdman,
I followed the instructions earlier in this thread (and from the JamStixWine installation instructions:
- copied the wineasio.dll.so from JamStixWine into my Crossover's /lib/wine directory (actual path = /Applications/CrossOver.app/Contents/SharedSupport/CrossOver/lib/wine)
- ran regsvr32 wineasio.dll within the Crossover console...didn't get a confirmation, so I opened a Terminal in the VAZ bottle at:
(user)/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/VAZMod324 Win7/drive_c
- got confirmation:
"Successfully registered DLL wineasio.dll"

So now WineASIO shows up as an option in the VAZ Preferences/Audio panel, but doesn't have any inputs/outputs associated with it. When I try to "apply" it I get a popup that says "ASIO not present. Playback muted."

Same deal trying to run the REAPER inside JamStixWine...Having started JACK up first, ASIO shows up as a driver within REAPER Audio prefs, but inputs/outputs are blank.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The one peculiarity I can point out is that I have Crossover installed in main (admin account) Applications, while VAZ' bottle is installed in (my user name) Applications folder (this was just the default installation location, I could reinstall in main Applications folder if that might make a difference with permissions or something.

I also tried MadGav (VAZ developer's) symlink suggestion here, it didn't seem to do anything.

hmmm, I don't know that is strange. Are you sure its not possible select the outputs? I do know that wineasio only supports two outputs and no inputs, so maybe that's a problem for you in Vaz, not sure. I've been able to get Reaper to work just fine though.

Did you try the JamstixWine skin I made? You can download it from Razyoon site. It will run reaper for you and you can install other plugins. Try that and let me know if it works. If not, then there can be some problem with JackOSX setup. There are some hacks that have to be made after Leopard, for making JackOSX and wineasio play nice together. My JamstixWine installer does the hacks automatically for you. Everyething might work for crossover too once you run the JamstixWine installer. Its basically just creating some sym links related to JackOSX. jackOSX and OSX both changed things around and caused some incompatabilities with wineasio, but fixed with some sym links.

Check out this post: http://rayzoon2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38265#38265

The sym link situation changed once going to snow leopard and it changed again later with the .90 release of JackOSX. So some older tips about symlinks might not be complete.

Thanks for the quick reply, Dewdman42! I will try your suggestions and report back. This is all a bit of arcane voodoo... Added to which, JACK in OSX behaves differently than it did when I used JACK in Linux years ago.

Also, I realize that the VAZ issues I was reporting were with the VAZ standalone, not the Windows VST version.
Will try as VST in JamStixReaper too.

On linux, all the audio apps must be run by the same user.
Can't have a .wine from the admin, and a jackd from a user,
or viceversa. Don't know if this holds true in macOS, or if apple
grant you the freedom to control all permissions and ownership
after the install.
Cheers

Keen to hear how you go.

Works without issue on Snow Leopard but I gave up trying to use Vaz Modular 3 in Crossover with Mountain Lion.

I did have the VST working in Energy XT but it was very laggy for some reason.

VST seemed to work OK in that V-Machine editor software but that was a pain to use for other reasons.

Any of you can use that JamstixWine thing. Just install it and then uninstall Jamstix from it and install whatever plugins you want. It basically runs Reaper and it works, as long as you have setup JackOSX to work with wineasio. Low latency. IAC midi.

OK, I'll give it a go, thanks! It isn't going to conflict with my OSX version of Reaper is it?

Post

no I don't think so, everthing is self contained within the wineskin

Are there any issues regularly updating Reaper within the JamstixWine setup?

Post

nope you can update it all you want and if you want to install a different host then reaper it might work too. At least wineasio is pre-setup for you.
