Am I the only person who not only loves but often actually prefers very basic and sometimes amateurish production?
(Note: all links that follow are to music, of course, except for Future-Kill, which is the trailer, but some of the synth score comes in about halfway through.)

I love vhs company logo tunes (big points for and ). I love synth scores to 80s B and Z-grade horror and sci-fi films like , , , Star Crystal, , , , and so on.

I'd rather Front 242's "Take One" over the positively dense stuff on 06:21:03:11 Up Evil (as much as I dig that too) or Chemlab's ep, all done only with an Emax according to Jared ("The sound of Iggy and the Stooges hacking the mainframe." early press release stuff said at the time. :) ).

Yeah, I'll chase the sound design (since I'm below rotten at such) of the lead synth sound of Carpenter's Escape From New York Main Theme my whole life likely, but my faves are the low end of such things.

Everyone loves fancy-schmancy, complex and high-end production and I'm over here all: "I love Crisis N.T.I.'s ".

Too much punk in my cyber I guess.

(Well, damn. I thought I encoded it so that only links would show and not YT previews. Ah, well. Sorry. :? )

I guess I am alone in this. :hihi:

Ah, well. Variety and spices and life and all that.

Yep. Sometimes I want to watch something on a medium that has caused the content to decay and degrade. Bust out the VHS tapes. Other times I want something pristinely preserved, true to its source. Bust out the blurays.

you are not alone!

I am a big fan of the VHS format.
I'm a movie geek/collector and as wonderful as it is to have some long forgotten non-classic all clean and such, I still dig the grit of the manner in which I experienced most of this stuff when I was a kid during the home video boom of the early-to-mid 80s.
Some accuse such as nostalgia (like my preference of older pen-and-paper rpgs over newer stuff). Not so. Nostalgia is looking back with rose-colored glasses and taking little to no note of the cons of whatever is it. I'm not thinking about how I loved this stuff then.
I'm loving it right now.

That's a dry/wet demo I made for my videotape plugin : http://www.dyvision.co.uk/videotape/vt.html

Only took about 10 edits to get the direct mp3 working - thanks Google Drive.

There's pretty much an entire musical movement dedicated to trashy 80's synth soundtracks.

Purchased that video tape emulator, by the way :)

I love old B-grade movies.

Thanks :) I designed it to give *exactly* this type of vibe, so I hope the OP doesn't mind my small bit of 'advertising'.

No, not at all. Sounds great. When I've some minute amount of disposable income for such things I'll seriously consider grabbing it myself.

Meanwhile...
