Why do you have your 2800+ clocked to 1.24 ghz? Or was it just a typo?
That's what it said when I bought it, and systems properties thats what it says. What should it be?

It depends if it´s a 64 bit CPU or the MP or XP model. The 64 bit model should be around 1,8-1,9 i think, the other around 2ghz-2.1ghz.Lman wrote:

If it really is a 2800+ model CPU the guys that built it probably forgot to set the BIOS right, so your BIOS is using the standard/low settings. You need to enter the BIOS (press DEL, or whatever it tells you, at startup). When inside the BIOS look for something with the lines "use optimal setup" or similar. Save and reboot, the clockspeed should be around 2ghz.
If you can´t find that option in the BIOS you will need to up the FSB speed manually (somewhere in the BIOS). It is probably set to 100mhz now, up it till it reaches the proper clockspeed. There´s a multipler also, if it´s set to 12,5 you should set the FSB to 166mhz (166*12,5=2075) or something like that.
But don´t up it all at once, do it in smaller stages.
And make sure it really is a 2800+ model CPU before messing around with it, and that you motherboard can support up to 2800+ CPUs.
Check the motherboard manual if you got it
EDIT: Google for some more info, och check the AMD site, i take no responsiblity for all this hehe
EDIT 2: You may have to up/down the voltage a bit to if it´s set wrong, AMD´s site should say what voltage the different 2800+ models need to be stable.

The only way I know to crash SX2 is when you install a VSTi or VST that doesn't agree with the other ones installed!
I also had it once or twice with a beta synth. Now, right after I install a VST(i), I always check if the rest still works. Never had a problem with a (large) project yet. I did remove all free VST(i)'s and Beta's since + did a clean-up in the registry.
Peter.
