How so? Unless purchased for what it may do in the future, SampleTank does and always has done exactly what we state it does and quite well for years.
So sorry Peter, I was being as sarcastic as I could imagine about the post just prior to mine. I was totally f'n kidding. I find all of the "YOU OWE ME" posts to be the most ridiculous part of internet culture. Evidently I had a sarcasm fail.

Don't worry I let out a laugh in public when I realized my sarcasm meter failed even more so than your actual sarcasm!! :) [/code]

Oh cr@p! Now we'll have to delay this release again!!!
/sarcasm intended and now clearly labeled since my meter was way off before ;)

Mine was too.

But in our defense, it is a complaint that has been launched at ST before, and doesn't invalidate what I had to say. :hihi:

43gb is a lot of stuff, though, so it's sort of like shooting fish in a barrel that's 43gb big, if you get my drift.

I had a discussion with DevonB a while ago about how I felt the standard ROM that came with the JV2080 and XP-30 was bloated too.

And that was only 8mb. :hihi:

I come from using Windows GM/GS, though, which meant I had about 5 instruments. Strings, bass, flute, and drums were featured in nearly every one of my songs because that was all it did reasonably well* (<--huge asterisk for obvious reasons.)

Most things are bloated to me.

Even Purity, which only has a 64mb wave ROM. I look at Purity and go, "Why do I need two pan flute waveforms? Pah."

I own a Roland Fantom G, and sure there are older sounds from the xv series in it, but with each new incarnation of the fantoms, these sounds have been upgraded, same thing with my Yamaha keyboards, the sound designers go back to the sounds and re edit them with the new efx, that each new board brings, so they sound better then they did in the older versions, this is very true especially with Yamaha.

This is something most software developers simply do not do,and I think it hurts the synths overall, with a softsynth, the dev's normally just add patches, my question is, will the new version of sampletank add some scripting,or some new efx to our old patches?
INTERFACE: RME ADI-2/4 Pro/Antelope Orion Studio Synergy Core/BAE 1073 MPF Dual/Heritage Audio Successor+SYMPH EQ
SYNTHS: Arturia Polybrute 12/Roland Jupiter X + Juno X/Yamaha Montage M/Yamaha KX88/Softsynths + Samplers
PEDALS: Chase Bliss Mood MK II

You need someone else to add effects to your patches ? ST 2 already has a ton of them.......

Hey Peter!

I just purchased Total Workstation XL.
Now I just have to find a magnifying glass. Or will you provide a scanning electron microscope in ST3?

It's a real PAIN to read that micro text on the user interface.

As a MUSICAN I want to LISTEN through the libraries for a sound. I don't want to spend hours with a magnifying glass browsing the libraries for some fancy name to see if that's a good sound. It's really time consuming when you have a billion sounds and want to find the right one. Apart from that it also kill your inspiration.

I can't even use the arrow keys to quickly go through and listen to the sounds.

@sfd - I have stated already in this thread that the GUI will be completely new.

I was going to try that sarcasm thing again and say "welcome to 2005", but it didn't go so well for me last time.

No way, sarcasm was HUGE in 2005 :) Remember this guy?

sarcasm alone won't keep this thread alive until release. BUT, it will fill in the gaps nicely. I love how the people bitching is keeping the thread at the top of the list. Kind of the definition of "own worst enemy".

Peter, is there plans for premium expansions in the future ?

Like SampleTank Chamber Ensemble, or SampleTank Quartet, for strings. Just an example.

With feature such as automatic divisi while playing chords, round robin, multiple velocities...

Would be great !

Actually I say that as a hint, because there is no real good modern chamber nor quartet sample libraries.

Thanks for the suggestion, K-Slash, I'm not sure of the future plans beyond release since that's the big hurdle at the moment.

@SJ_Digriz - Just wait until you see the upgrade pricing I've requested they set just for you and you may end up changing your tune. Please give me your account details so I can arrange the worst possible upgrade path based a day or two beyond your original registration date :)

It does beg the question though of the possibility of those trolls actually being part of the work force of IKM to create controversy for them to play off.

As was said in Hollywood so many decades ago, "There is no such thing as bad publicity."

If we suddenly found out that the trolls were also IKM, that would be my greatest disappointment with the company.

Post

i would actually applaud the sheer evil genius of IKM :-)
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.
