I just cannot escape the feeling that the notes in the melody-line need a bit of tightening through the envelopes with a lower sustain and less delay on that. The problem with it I think lies more in the richness of that sound, tending to muddify the mix quite a bit.

The percussion is just great, whereas the bass is hearable, but it just wont come out somehow.

Do check out the EQ'ing on the bass/melody/pads so as to give each element its own space.

Overall this is pretty good; a bit triphoppish/spacey but with enough room to stretch this and play with the various elements through time.

Demi on :!:

Thanks for the comments, Mark. Spot on, as usual.

Yeh, I'm aware that it needs a bit of tightening-up.
I was going to work on that after getting some more basics of the track down first.

It just feels like there is an element missing. I've tried a few ideas, but no joy yet.

Anyone?

I had a listen and like what you have so far..but i have at the moment three songs going where I can't get past the first eight bars. So, I'm not much help to anybody.

I like vurt and mystahr's ideas. I'd also add that this song has the "move along" feel, but it doesn't transition or change too much. You could just add a lead/solo part to walk along the song, and that would do a lot.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Thanks loads for the ideas, all. 8) :D
I'll have a bit of time at the weekend and have a twiddle with the tune then.

Bluedad - Know exactly what you mean. Really should catalogue my ideas too. Keep coming across files after a while and think...hmmm. what's this tune... Ah, yeh, I remember that one...must finish it sometime! :-o

I like the guitar idea...some heavy simple riffs......like this da-da---da-dada-da, you know. Collab with someone hear on the forum...there are some great players hear.

I'd like to hear the drums move more aggressivly as the song builds.

I really like this but you are right, it needs to go somewhere. Keep at it.... :)

Hey Miro - smooth track, it's got a great feel - suggesting that there's something coming......

So I was just about to say the same thing - go for the heavy contrast between sections... :D
Its a bit hackneyed when it comes to rock, but I do this in other ways.. maybe some kind of heavy drum break (using different drum sounds than the ones you have used on the first part of the track)? or some rough lead sound that cuts through the smooth feel for a breakdown/mid-8 section and then fade back to the refrain?

Just an idea :)

Miro,
If you don't get a response on the collab, you may want to start another thread with "collab" in the subject line.....

I think this song has some great potential... :)
