It is from their 'Artcore' series/range, I haven't any experience with them, Agree with hibidy that they/it looks really nice

hibidy, I find 7-strings with regular 25.5" scale-lengths not as useable for my needs/wants (The Schecter 7 I have is 26.5" and is not noticeable but really adds to the low-end register). Then my Ibby M80M 8 is 29.4" and definitely noticeable (In a good way). Also that Ibanez RGD320Z 6 string is 26.5" like Schecter is brilliant and what an ultra bargain

Just something you may want to try out at one of your local haunts if they stock any 'extended scale', I still use 13 - 68 on the 6 string RGD320Z but the added length may also benefit you as the additional tension will let you use a lighter gauge if that is any use to you

I'll try to post a few tracks where I've used one of the above mentioned in them

The Carvin looks really nice, I can also vouch for Jackson's 7 strings after trying some of their 7s and 8s out I was quite impressed and both the won't break the bank models up to pro/USA made models are uniformly good

Anyway pleased the extra string bug has bitten as it does offer a lot, As you know I was sceptical for years and just wanted a baritone 6 string or neck to convert one of my 6 string Jackson's (something I still plan to do at some point. I just have to spend my money in other areas atm so no new guitars for the near future unless it is something really, really special)

i'm going to have to get my arse on the bus to kings lynn or peterborough - 30 and 60 mile round trips - to check out some guitars. there is a small music shop in wisbech up the road from where i live but they seem to open when they feel like it.
good grief i wish i could drive!

Neil mate, I just need to get a mug shot done and then I can send off for a renewed provisional license and as soon as I do get it begin lessons again. It really has been a bane not being able to drive legally. Especially with having two children and a single fulltime parent, I can not wait as it'll give me so much freedom to do simple things quickly along with make up for all the driving around for the kid's my Mother has done/does do.

Got a car already but will probably leave that as my Mum's and get one for myself after a little while.

So yes indeed I hear you on having to either use our fantastically unreliable and overpriced public transport or if it is a good day get a lift of off family or friends... No fun

Ah- no, Dean. The Artcore series are all hollowbody/semi-hollow.

The couple I've played have been pretty good for the price. I prefer the two Artists I own (a six string and a twelve string), but then again, mine are also 35 years old (they're both from '79).

Thoughts/opinions on Paul Reed Smith's S2 line? This is supposed to be the mid-range, American-made guitar that is more 'affordable'. At $1500+ it still seems a bit over-priced I do like the new semi-hollow range though If this guitar were closer to $1k I would jump on it:

$1,500 for an American-made set neck, properly finished guitar is pretty affordable. Gibson has/had some American-made set neck models for under $1K but those were slabs (no contours on the bodies) and only had stained finishes. Fender Highway One's were a similar concept, American-made but with cheap finishes and overseas parts. The finish is what requires the most man hours, I think PRS could get under $1K if they make an S2 line that is only stained.

Are the pots, switch, jack, and tuners all decent quality? I suspect they are Korean-made on the S2 line?
