For my workflow, I tend to have a collection of multi-sampled instruments, say 4 samples each mapped across the range in a single folder. In Kontakt I can build the 1st instrument manually and then on the samples page there is a '>' button to increment the sample used in the folder. This then means I can make a mouse record macro to trigger to very quickly map the next instrument. It's a great way of working which I use a lot when working on similarly mapped collections which saves a lot of time.

I see. In the current alpha I have a function that lets you load a project as a template, which will give you the same structure but without the audio files, which you'll have to import again. Or you can save-as, then use 'replace text in audio files' function.. You can change all samples named piano_60_30_70.wav to guitar_60_30_70.wav and so on... I think that would be somewhat similar, albeit with an additional step or two. =)

also when it comes to building the first instrument, I've come up with some time-saver functions too such as 'clone group structure' and 'clone group + data' functions. =)

Hi Jim! It's been a long time, yeah. I still don't know what to do with the plugins.. I've actually announced in my old website (before I had to take it down to move to a new server and never got around to bringing it back up again) that the plugins are freeware now. Soon I'll make them available again on my website. For now I'm going to concentrate on applications, and making mac and linux versions.
Does personal use mean we can still use it as a tool for our own recordings that might be sold eventually?
I haven't really thought about licensing and stuff. But if I'm gonna go that route, like "free for personal use and paid for commercial use", maybe commercial use is if you intend to sell sfz-mapped instruments. So yeah, you can sell your own recordings made using the sfz that came out of this product. =)

I'd like to consider adopting Reaper's model: It's free for all, no restrictions when it comes to use, but if your income is over a certain amount, or if you profitted with the help of the product by over a certain amount, then you need to buy it. something like that.

But nothing is final. The only thing I'm sure of is that while it's in beta it's gonna be free without restrictions. Nice to hear from you again Jim!

Thanks Mildon, you've got a lot of gems. Always was a fan of the strummer; I was hoping you would have kept improving it, but I guess there are quite a few to be had from various devs these days.

Strummer was my favorite creation. =) I wish to resurrect it some day.

Anyway, to all of you above, thanks for the suggestions and the feedback. I'll do some code cleanup and update you guys regarding which features would make it into the first beta release. =) Hopefully by next week I can give a date when it could be expected to come out.

just a quick update...

I've decided to approach this project on two fronts. One will feature a more graphic GUI like the screenshot I provided, and one will feature more compliance with the spec... this will help me see what majority of users really want/need and pick the good parts from both projects.

I'll release the graphic version first since I've already done a lot of work with that one. The second one will look more academic. more fields, less graphic controls. The auto-group file importer will be the central feature of the second one.

=)

I didn't see this thread before. I think it's a very good idea, althought some people will always prefer editing a sfz file with a text editor.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

Great project, definitely support it. Do you need beta testers? Will you add DAHDSR envelopes?

Thanks guys, and if anyone would want to test on mac and linux, please let me know also. =)

I'd be interested in testing on Mac. What is the minimum OS?
I am on Snow Leopard at home, but Yosemite at work.
Thanks for your efforts!
Cheers,

Great that you´re planning a linux port ! Count me as beat tester.

Post over in "Instruments" reminded me -- SFZ2 does multi-point, multi-curve, target-able envelope generators as the preferred way to do all triggered envelopes. I'd suggest keeping this in mind :).
