it's just like any other synth..
it's actually surprisingly easy to program if you spend some time in it
This might seem like nitpicking, but actually it is not just like any other synth, and that's what makes it take some time to get into even for experienced sound programmers:
There is a fundamental difference in how modulations are handled. On about every other synth a modulation either adds/subtracts to/from a value, while in Absynth a modulation scales the value. This means that you set the actual maximum modulation amount by the parameter itself, and not by the modulation amount. A completely different concept.

of course.. but that takes 5 minutes of your time reading through the manual.. and after that.. you already know what modulation is so there's no mysteries left

like i said i like it but like i aalso said somewhere else yes more patches please and more and more.
some nice spacey ambient pads n sounds might help too
ive been commisioned to do a 3 hour piece of music :-o for a school space project(my sons school)so any new inspirational sounds would be cool 8)
that goes for anyone :D

nice..

well my cd project is going rather slow lately (not much inspiration) and I normally start programming sounds when I'm in that mood.. I'll send you the spacey ones

Same stuff as Scot Solida, I think. It's in the manual somewhere.

See, that's exactly why I pointed it out. It's not about understanding it (that's easy, though it's not really explained in the manual) but about adjusting your habit in programming to it - especially when for years* you have been programming synth following the common modulation concept ...

*that might be the reason we have yet to see some Scot Solida presets for Absynth :hihi:

Oh, and Absynth 2.0 is THE cpu king on the Mac! Nothing comes close to offering such diverse sounds with such a low overhead... I wish every other company out there making soft synths could figure out how it's done...

Seriously, I'm considering using it for everything... because the cpu on my G4 1.25ghz never goes over 50%... FM7 is close too! Hmmm, you know,
Pro-53 is also very cpu friendly... there could be a pattern here?

Post

A few months back, CM magazine had an article on making your own presets from scratch, and its VERY helpful. Maybe you could find it on the net somewhere.

general reply here...bought dynamo a few years ago and loved it. bought absynth a couple years ago and wept for joy on numerous occasions, especially after the absynth2 upgrade.....then this deal came out for Komplete2 for about $500...... can't beat that bang for the buck :!:
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

we need to investigate this pattern further to come to the truth.. my first guess is a German conspiracy

I probably just need to sit down with the manual. That first xylophone/arp sound is a cracker, though.

B4, now that I can understand easily. :D
