Thanks for the various bits of feedback, christianmusicmaker.

Timestretch and looping in Cubase wasn't much fun imho.

Best timestretching experience I've had was using SoundForge, which I assume uses the same code as Acid. I guess a pro-audio editing tool is made for this kind of thing.

For looping, give me Live 4!

Hey...TTOZ! No offense taken. :) I may even ask Jules about about the whole thing. 8) Anyway you have made perfectly good points we just somehow got our wires crossed. :-o

Either way TTOZ...speedshifting, time - stretching, or simply stretching audio  I am more interested in the results than the process.I will let Jules stick to that and pay him for the finished product :hihi:

Your welcome...I hope the level of detail provided clarity rather than confusion. I certainly prefer less applications to produce music.

Problems with Cubase then? I had similar issues with my brief spell with SL.2.0

Samplitude 8 and Live 4 come pretty close to *that* application for me.

The first time I used Live 3 I was amazed. It simply is a great tool for loops. Now we have midi features as well. :-o

So headquest...how did the Sonar demo go? Happy? Or will you wait for Sonar 4 and then decide (maybe a better idea). 8)

What about EU pricing? Not an issue for you...?

Got sidetracked - looking at Project5. I'm told the MIDI editing is great, so thought I'd investigate...

So what's the score with Samplitude? I've not come accross this one yet...

You are perfectly right! And now that Ableton Live has HTML, it definitely needs JVC!

Well...where do I start?

Samplitude has had a reputation for being superb with audio (it really is) but weak with midi.

V.8 addresses these concerns for me but I assume you know what you need for midi work so you can judge if V.8 features will meet your requirements.

Here is a complete overview of Samplitude V.7

http://www.samplitude.com/de/sam_FE.htm

Click on the version differences link for a clearer idea of what you will get for your investment.

Here are the features for V.8 Sequoia (effectively a preview of all other Samplitude versions).

I think V.8 is already out in Germany with a general release in September.

And if it only had latency . . like that other cool sequencer did , it had the best latency ever.

I haven't seen the light but I've seen the price : 500 !!! SX2 at 750 or so ...
Version 4 ? seems like Sound Forge : some features and 100 bucks more so I'll skip versions and wait for Live 7 or 8 ...

Since I've SX2, here's a deal to Mr Ableton : 200 for just the audio tweaks bag of tricks ( a LIVE LE version ) no MIDI, FX, VSTi's support ... etc ... really naked.

Deal done ?

Whoa! How did I miss this one? :-o

Looks like LOTS of windows though - (another Cubase/Logic clone?)

And check out the price tag!! :-o  :-o

Any mention or Rewire implementation? (not interested without it; beginning to think that you now

need two programmes open to have a truly flexible environment.

Looks like this could be excellent for audio 8) ... MIDI, well, let's wait and see![/b]

Samplitude Classic is in the same Price ball park as Sonar 3 Producer

Cubase / Logic clone maybe but most reviews compare Samplitude to high end products like Protools and Nuendo.

Rewire for V.8 yes...

V.8 version features:

- 12 channel surround, surround effects and object surround
capability
- A manager for file libraries, objects, tracks, ranges and markers
- Multi Source Manager
- MAGIX Analogue Modelling Suite
- MAGIX Elastic Audio
- MIDI: Drum Editor, Controller Multi Editor
- MAGIX Robota Pro
- ReWire Support
- Algorithmix Plug-ins

Thanks. I checked out the links and this does look impressive. I got the impression that you need the pro version to get all the MIDI stuff, but perhaps that's just in v.7.

I'll look forward to demo + reviews later in the year!
