the round robin feature for oscillators is excellent...like ni rounds but way better in terms of depth and ease of use

Do you want me to replicate the problem first as I deleted the nested places folder?

Post

Yes, please.
And close Falcon first, before copying the file. This is saved at Falcon exit.

Thanks !

@otristan , a few pages back, but could you check MultiStateButton for me : issue reportedhere, its a small issue, but makes MultiStateButton pretty unusable (as saved state doesnt work)

But I also wanted to say how fantastic Falcon (and in particular its scripting) is...

Ive now got two variations (and more to come) of MPE working,
one which allows x,y,z as pitch, modulation (via polyAt), volume, which is my go-to setup.
another which uses Y to cross fade between layers, which is awesome :)

the more Ive been playing with the scripting, the more Ive realised this is going to be a fantastic way to do some really dynamic routing, that goes way beyond simply modulating a couple of parameters, its a pretty unique feature ...

a small request, when you do sendVoiceModulation, can I ask that I can create at least 3 poly mod sources (for x,y,z)... but more would be preferable, as my recent experience with uviscript has sparked some interesting ideas/uses for other uses for per voice modulation :)
this is really going to open up Falcon, providing something very special/unique - really only previously possible in Max/Reaktor, but they lack the fantastic sound of Falcon.

anyway, Falcon has really exceeded my expectations

as an aside, and perhaps I need to do this 'offline', but If I wanted to produce/sell a 3rd party soundbank, that came with special programs/multis for MPE etc
- how do I go about this?
- would the soundbank be useable without Falcon (UVI player?)
- are the scripts protected? (some of them could be getting quite complex/involved)
(also is it possible to create 'free' versions?)

Thanks again for Falcon.

if you change the selected index programmatically, the display does not update, this includes when they are saved and reloaded.
(I've tried with both explicit load/save and the implicit)
it seems to be a bug,

Code: Select all

processX = MultiStateButton("processX", {"off","on","invert"})
processX.selected = 1
if will still show off, but if you press it, it will go to invert
This was indeed an UI refresh bug, now fixed. Thanks for the report.

You can sell Falcon presets at your convenience.
If you want those to be iLok protected, you need to contact our support though for information on our 3rd party program.

You can however encrypt your script (second icon in the script processor header) and protect your program content(list view, menu on Program level) directly in Falcon

There will be up to 128 polyphonic script driven mod source, so I suppose this will be enough :)

So far, I am finding the update works very well.
Now this tremendously capable synth just got better.
Life is good. :)

Bug Report:

Made sample out of 3 synths. Imported into Falcon Sample oscillator. Applied alternate loop and cross fade. Played note and mid way through the sample my UR28M Steinberg sound card locked up and froze my DAW. Had to reboot computer.

This used to only happen with the stretch function. Now it seems the only sample based functions I can use are granular and multi granular. Anything else crashes my DAW.

Windows 7, 64 bit
Core 3 processor
16 gig RAM
Cubase 7.0.7

I haven't tried this in MuLab or Reaper yet but hesitant to because it gets tiresome having to reboot my PC every time this happens.

If somebody can look into this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Recently i bought a second hand Ensoniq ESQ-1 (hybrid with 32 digital waveforms + real analog Curtis filter) and also upgraded the OS EPROMS from OS 2.0 to the latest OS 3.53.

Now i decided to sample the included waveforms and create a wavetable for Falcon using the Audio Term wavetable editor.

After creating the samples and the wavetable i compared the result loaded into the Falcon wavetable Osc to the real ESQ-1 (additionally i also compared loading the single sampled waveforms in Falcon). While around half of the waveforms do sound close or even very close a bunch of other waveforms do sound slightly or even very much different from the original ones. This is especially true for teh "Voice1" and "Voice2" and the "Noise" waveforms but also some others. After checkng this again it looks that for those samples tehy only sound great for the octave they were sampled at but not for other octaves. Looks like in the real thing those were not simple single cycles but multisamples that sound different in different octaves.

Due to this i guess i will cancel doing a wavatable of the ESQ-1 waveforms but maybe will try to create multisamples of the single waveforms later (with one or multiple samples per octave).

That's exactly true - ESQ has single-cycle samples for each octave of the instrument, AFAIK.

If you have a preset which reproduce this, please send it by P.M.

FWIW, you can technically have a WT per octave and map multiple wavetable oscillator on the mapping view following this.
Still, sampling is sometimes much better as you get as well the subtle variation over the time. This is what we do most of the time for our own product

all good stuff.... so whats the relationship with UVI workstation and Falcon?
is it like Kontakt player to the full Kontakt i.e. if I create a library for Falcon (and its part of your 3rd party program) will it run on UVI workstation.
or does UVI workstation only have a subset of Falcons features, so a user needs Falcon to run these libraries?

(no problem either way, just interested how it works, and if to use my libs a user would need Falcon)

:o truly awesome ... this is going to be so cool, hope it will be available soon... though I still have lots to play with in Falcon 1.0.1 :phones:

One of the softsynths that could also use "multi single cycles" opposing to typical multisamples is Synthmaster. There you could use multiple single cycles for different notes/octaves and those could be also used with the wavetable oscillator there (opposing to the"normal" samples which could not be used with wavetables there).
In Synthmaster such "multi single cycles" are done with certain ending for the names of the WAV files (example: "Saw.C1.auto.WAV" for C1) and in Synthmaster they will appear with a single name without that ending (example: "Saw").

Will try to do multisamples for one of those ESQ-1 waveforms soon and check mapping multiple wavetable oscs then.

UPDATE:
I did multiple samples (all C3 notes) of teh "Voice 1" waveform in the ESQ-1. I found it seems to be very difficult to replicate this properly with samples. While at the sampled notes it could sound identical alraeady at the notes next to the sampled notes it could start sounding different from the real thing.
