Some PDC issues were fixed, not all.

Damn really ?! What's still haunting the thing - Is there any examples out there ?

I am fairly new to Live. How do they handle major upgrades as far as current users are concerned? Free/Paid/Approximate cost?

Does Live compensate everything?

As of Live 9.2, audio, automation, and modulation are fully compensated. Graphics Elements are not compensated, thus the level meters and other graphic elements might be displayed slightly ahead of time with respect to the audio.

In addition to this, built-in device modulation which is synced to the Live transport (i.e., synced to a specific beat-time position) is not compensated. One example would be the Auto Filter LFO (in Sync mode), which might be slightly off depending on the position the device has in the effect chain. Specifically, if the Auto Filter is located after a number of devices introducing a large latency, the modulation might be offset to an earlier position with respect to the grid.

Taken from here: https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/latency-faqs/

To clarify, Live still does not compensate for 3rd party plugin latency within a device chain. Throw a plugin on a track that induces latency, and any plugin (internal or 3rd party) that follows requiring timing will be off for that track.

Not a deal breaker, but it's good to know so you can work around the issue. I would imagine this will be fixed by Live 10. Fingers crossed.

I've said it elsewhere, my guess is a reveal of Live 10 at Loop in October(?); not sure when it will hit the streets thereafter.

Gahhhh!!!!! :-x that is dumb. But awesome. Please fix this Ableton.

Why is PDC an issue AT ALL? In any DAW. Does it stem from the OS at all?

It's not at all an issue because of the OS. Some plugins need to process their audio so that it becomes delayed. They can however report that additional delay back to host, which should then be able to compensate for it.

What would Live 10 be? Everything notable in live 9 is already a third party max4Live device to be purchased separately. If the current state of affairs is any indication, live 10 will be a minor little update to bring it in line with new max 7 (or 8 ) features not yet supported (are there any at this point?).

That said, I think it would be smart to go with a platform model: Sell Live cheap and crack it way open for m4L devs so customers will buy from your m4L 'app store'. In-house innovation at Ableton - outside of the push ecosystem - has been... modest, to say the least.

But ultimately, they need some sales proposition for Live 10 and I don't see it right now. So I don't think 10 will be out until they have one. But maybe I'm missing something.

They're going to skip 10 and go all the way to 11, because it's 1 better.

i have a feeling they will somewhat bring something new to the layout and rework and add more effect... probably new delays and junk... and lots of "xy" pendling. they should work with sonicbloom for some dope new skins.

btw, the new simpler device and the extra filters was a "abteton 10" thing for me...

Damn this title op. I thought there was some real news.
