I'm a pretty big fan of King Crimson and of Adrian Belew myself. My favorites being In The Court Of The Crimson King, Starless And Bible Black and Discipline Favorite songs being ALL of Crimson King, "Easy Money", ALL of Discipline and "Heartbeat", "Industry", "Larks Tongues In Aspic III".

Favorite Fripp solo album: Exposure. favorite Fripp sideman: second Peter Gabriel album.

Favorite Belew solo album: Young Lions. And the first album he did with The Bears is a pop masterpiece, particularly "Wavelength", where he made a glitching guitar synth musical

There's a rumour about that Ryko may be re-issuing it on CD in the next little while.

It was a thrill to meet Tony Levin last year at my local Long & McQuades - he was in town with Gabriel and had some time to have a discussion and clinic. He had left behind his Stick but a woman who had just got hers brought it and Tony went to demonstrate signature licks and tunings.

oh yeah, I got to see the Thrak tour, which was great but was incredibly LOUD (they were playing Massey Hall), and I was in about the third row! At one point, having not brought earplugs, I put my fingers in my ears, only to notice Fripp staring right at me and scowling as if to say "if it hurts that much, why did you come?!"

Thanks Soniccat and Sascha Franck, I see I don't know enough of Prog yet... Never knew Tony Levin was in there, for example, listening to music but don't reading line-ups. Only heard some of KC toured with Steve Hackett the last years.

Well threads about other music-style would be pretty interesting too

, but why not about Prog

Another King Crimson fan here. Funny thing is, I actually love the individual member's side and solo projects more than what they do together as King Crimson.

For example, I adore what Fripp does with the League of Crafty Guitarists--totally brilliant.

Trey Gunn's Third Star is my ultimate favorite prog rock album. It's mindblowingly groovy and hypnotic.

Tony Levin's stuff with Liquid Tension Experiment is just intense.

but some very clever musicians,unfortunately occassionally too clever for my persoanl tastes

What no mention of Carmine Appice here. I know he's in and out of King Crimson but come on how many of those guys have their stars on Hollywood BLvd next to Buddy Rich. This all coming from a guitarist too, Not too many that cut the groove like Appice (the other brother lays it down as well.)

I'm an 80's Crimson disciple.

Definitely my #1 musical influence. Totally love all three albums.

Favorite member project is Bill Bruford's Earthworks, but only the Bates/Ballamy incarnation. Also a huge influence.

Favorite Belew is "Desire Caught by the Tail". Favorite Bears is "Rise and Shine".

Ummm....when did Carmine Appice ever play with King Crimson? I love his playing too, but I don't remember him ever being in a KC lineup.

I think my favorite Fripp solo is on "Baby's on fire" on Eno's "Here Come the Warm Jets".

Yes I did make a mistake. Dummy me. But yeah he has his own star there right next to Buddy Rich. Sorry if I offended any hard-core KC fans. I coulda sworn but it probably was King Cobra...

edit that is the rock walk hall of fame thing not the stars sorry.

If it wasn't for Yes, I woulda never known about King Crimson.

If it wasn't for K.C I woulda never known about Robert Fripp.

If it wasn't for Fripp I woulda never known Eno did things outside of Roxy Music (hate them!)

If it wasn't for Eno I woulda never heard of Porcupine Tree.

I liked Discipline & Three Of A Perfect Pair for years as my faves (wasn't keen on their really early stuff, but I like Fripp and especially Bruford), but I prefer Thrak nowadays. Didn't like it at first, but now it's my fave. I've not heard anything they might've done since then. Had my head stuck up the IDM-Arse for too long maybe. hehe
