Liking C9 already, have hotmapped the left/right/lower zone views to the Alt-Gr + , || Alt-Gr + . || Alt-Gr + /

The Alt-Gr key in Cubase seems to assign Alt-Ctrl as a one button press, so does make life easier. The only gripe is that on trying to use the same keys on the main MixConsole window, the shortcut keys are ignored. Seems like nearly there.. but this is C9.0 (got to install C9.0.1 already)
yep still on the 16 bar loop... :D

I actually had to google what the dickens was Alt-Gr :-)
Never heard it ever until today :-)

Ok now I follow the Alt-Gr part :-)
the MixConsole doesn't have Left, Right, Lower Zones does it?
What are you trying to map using the same key commands on the mix console?

No MixConsole doesn't have lower zone, but it has same buttons which when you hover over them give the same shortcut keys.

Mixconsole also has left zone (assigned AltGr+, :: works in main sequencer only), right zone (assigned AltGr+/ :: works again in main sequencer only), and there is an additional button to hide/show upper racks on the MixConsole (not sure if same shortcut for lower zone in sequencer is mapped, forgot to check it).

I only map once, the same shortcuts appear when I mouse-over on both Mixconsole and main sequencer. There's no separate MixConsole left/right/top or main sequencer left/right/lowerzone as far as I can see in the shortcut lists (Focus window should take 'ownership' of the shortcuts when specific window is active, Mixconsole or main sequencer)

Also using a dual monitor setup (Project on one, MixConsole on other)

The dock works very well on high res screens. Overview of the mixer while on the project page, I love it. Only problem now is crashing on exit.

To avoid those crashes make sure to first close the project in which you are working, and then close Cubase. That will allow Cubase to close all the VST and VSTi on that project properly.

I do that, but it's still crashing.

It doesn't fulfill that for you!!!

How did you ascertain that most people are doing so?
Of course it's based on this forum, Sternberg's and two others. To repeat, the LZ works for some people with single larger screens (as shown above), but that can only ever be a subset of all users, obviously. For everyone else, I've read little but the same negativity summing up my own experience.

Sternberg claims the Lower Zone addresses the #1 feature request from users, where demonstrably it does not for a large proportion of them. I have an MBP and a four screen main rig - the LZ works for neither.

Playing with sampler track after watching the promo video..

Cut section out of audio in main track screen similar to the single note bass sound as demonstrated in the video.. Discover it doesn't work like that, it copies the entire sample and then you have to set the start/end points again.

Find a nice section of audio to loop and wonder what it sounds like in reverse.. simple, click the reverse icon.. oh wait, it just reversed the entire loaded sample, you know the part you didn't actually require but it decided to load up anyway, resulting in your reversed loop now being over a completely different section of the sample.

Can't send to Padshop or pro like the video states so decide to send the small loop to Halion 5 instead.. it sends the entire sample including the unwanted parts to Halion too. arghhhh

What is the point?

I know you have been on the internet/music forums long enough to know:
1. The people who like a feature or have no issues with it, are often the silent ones.
2. The ones who don't like it usually speak the loudest.
3. The vast majority of SB users don't even use musical forums.

SB is aware of that issue and working on a fix.... for now move the part you want into a separate track and bounce that part alone, then use that part in sampler.

Oh dear. These arguments are rather tired and outdated. Social media is everywhere, forums everywhere. I see posts everywhere praising and critisising everything, its not a one way street. It feels like these arguments always get wheeled out when there is a genuine problem though.

Bottom line - you haven't addressed a single criticism beyond saying "it might work for someone else". Try answering these questions:

Is the Lower Zone useful for laptop or multi-screen users? (bad answer - "well change your screen then, those with big single screens love it")

Does it make sense for the Sampler Track to import the parent file, not the clip, not route and place it intelligently and have a terrible timestretch algorithm? (bad answer - "you don't have to use it you know")

Is it a good design choice to fix the transport bar at the bottom where it clashes with the core OS functionality of many users? (bad answer - "change how your OS works")

Is it a missed opportunity to not be able to undo just one entry in the mixer history list? (bad answer - just be grateful we have mixer undo at all).

Listen - if you're loving C9 that's a wonderful thing. I want Cubase to succed. However, to dismiss the apparently large number of us who are distinctly underwhelmed, for solid reasons, isn't especially helpful.

Thank you for that - then it's official and I can relax it will be fixed.
I got it for Waves if used in a project - and closing CP9 directly.
But closing project first, all is fine - as I found for workaround(also put in my support ticket the other day).

Relieved.... :)

Let me answer:
1. For me on my macbook pro if I am working on the road, without an external screen. Yes the Lower Zone is exceedingly helpful.....can't say that strong enough. I don't know if it was aimed at multi screen users, however for some users having the editors in the project window is a significant work flow if you have enough screen real estate....
2. The sampler issue is a known issue and will be fixed.
3. I actually use the F2 transport bar at the bottom of my screen, have for the past ten plus years, I actually don't' find it interfering with Dock or taskbar, plus many of the transport features are also available on the top of the project window... see any of my screenshots in this thread....so you don't have to use it....where would you want them to put it?
4. You can undo several issues at one swoop just move the orange horizontal line....What it doesn't have and would be nice to have is branch history, so you can make one undo but keep every other change after that initial event.

You again with this Large number.. sigh.

@noiseboyuk
if you don't like it fine, my issue however is your use of words, "most", "Large", "everyone else"

How many people are we speaking about in your sweeping generalizations? 10,20,50 people?

Also I guess because I have both my Dock and Taskbar to auto hide maybe thats why the Main Transport F2 Bar has never been an issue for me.
