So, will you, or have you bought Sylenth1?

Tough choice!Vortifex wrote:I feel like between Dune 2 and the free Firebird from Tone 2 I already got that stuff covered, so for me I can't justify the cost.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

My 2 Cents:
If you want your EDM tracks to sound like the big guys, Sylenth1 can deliver that. Other super saw synths sound similar, but maybe not 100% right (if you want that industry standard sound).
The number of available Patch-banks can be a big pro.
CPU use is moderate.
The GUI enables you to tweak it quickly, move on and finish your production quickly.
If you want analog sound, make current "Dubstep", develop your independent trademark sound, then you may be more happy with something else.
It's not the perfect be all end all Synthesizer, but it has its place.
If you can resist that shiny new object attraction of the latest and greatest, then Sylenth1 can be great choice to get the sound your songs need, and move the finished production out the studio door quickly.

^^ This. Thus why I'm going to buy it tomorrow.Yorrrrrr wrote:Damn GAS.
I feel that DUNE 2 can do whatever *I* would need from Sylenth1, but not the other way around. Do you guys thinks it's worth to keep both or too much overlap? Maybe I'll keep Sylenth1, just for the bazillion presets, IDK.
IMO, Sylenth is starting to get a bit tired. Everyone uses it, and lots of people pirate it, so in some ways, for me at least, it's a question of being unique. Apart from that, if everyone stayed with Sylenth, where would we be in 10 years?

Dune 2 and Sylenth1 are different! They only share the subtractive nature, but Dune 2 has much more possibilities in sounds because it is not only a subtractive synth, but wavetable and Basic FM synth! They might share some kind of sounds, but IMO, we can't compare the two!zenophilix wrote:^^ This. Thus why I'm going to buy it tomorrow.Yorrrrrr wrote:Damn GAS.

Sylenth1 can be compared with Hive and Predator 1 maybe, while Dune 2 can be compared with Spire, Massive, Largo ..etc. So, IMO the two (Sylenth1 and Dune 2) won't overlap much, only if you use them the same way exactly (but even FM8 would overlap in a subtractive syntheses way only).
Well, I still prefer Sylenth1 more than Hive (which I might sell it soon) overall. Hive still has a nice character, but I'm not seeing myself using it as much as Sylenth1.
For Dune 2, I thought to buy it (or re-buy it) but, I don't like the workflow at all. I also have a good collection of wavetable synths (+ FM8 ) and Massive being the most enjoyable interface/workflow to design with, so I won't buy Dune 2 again
The only two synths that I might choose over Sylenth1 (for specific rich basses or leads) are Monark and RePro~1 (which I will buy definitely). Other than those, Sylenth1 will take not a small place in my tracks.
The concept behind my choices is not to be unique with my sounds, but to know how to express the ideas and feelings inside me with music. I think Sylenth1 can trigger those ideas and feelings more than some other synths.

No. Never even considered it, really. Same with Nexus. Nothing either does (that I want to do), that I can't do with something I already have.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Just joking. Dubstep I found interesting was pre-Skrillex.Hooj wrote:blue monk wrote:blue monk wrote:acYm wrote:if you make dubstep in 2017 though, you're probably working on a jingle for a daytime TV commercial.blue monk wrote:current "Dubstep"
