I think a lot of people (myself included) picked BWS up cheap as a second or even 3rd DAW and find the upgrade cost quite high.
There are no killer features in V2 (although no doubt some great improvements and fun toys) and given the teathing problems with V1 I suspect a lot of people will wait to upgrade (not great if BW need cash flow) - it isn't in that 'no brainier' update price range.
I definitely wpuldnt have bought BW for close to four hundred bucks (with just one year of updates, that feels like disadvantage to me)
If they had added the modular environment and network collaboration in V2 as promised, then the price may have been justified.
This is Bitwig 1.5 and it should have had a .5 upgrade price of around sixty or even seventy bucks, in that scenario I would have just handed over my money to keep supporting this inovative product.

@bungle
No, I am not surprized lol I have been asking for clip fades for several years. Only to understand clip fades are part of 2.0, then the shells fell from my eyes...

Yup, for example, here is a short one with an non-M4L alternative to the modulators thing, that Little Scale published recently (http://little-scale.blogspot.com.br/201 ... -2017.html):liquidsound wrote: With Live you have thousand of tutorials from basic to very deep levels.
Tip 17 was also news to me:

I've only recently started to use Bitwig, and after all that migration I'm very disappointed to see the new pricing model.
It's a slippery slope and I'm not going to be taken for the ride.
Goodbye Bitwig.

Tutorials are nice but I certainly don't consider them in the balance.liquidsound wrote:Comparing BWS to Live is not totally correct.
Beside workflow preferences the differences ATM are not so equal.
With Live you have thousand of tutorials from basic to very deep levels.
M4L tools are growing in number every week from free to fair priced packs and some of them are complete instruments in their own rights such as Oscilott and Bengal.
(And yes, in my experience very stable).
Free packs are everywhere in addition to Sets
for your sessions experimentations.
User-groups and certification programs.
Etc. Etc.
And a company that has shown the willingness to keep growing in the right direction.
Live is an expanding Universe.
BWS, for now, is a Solar System with its own planets.
And now some Laws are changing while those planets are beginning to get some perspective...
M4L is a resource hog.
Free packs... of so so quality (some are pretty good I admit)
Certifications programs... lol, what a big joke to make money. Why would I need a certification for? I'm not postulating for an IT job. If I want to sell my music, is it good or not? Who care if I'm certified?!?
And universe vs solar system... Live as been out for much longer. I think in the short time Bitwig as been on the market it grow a nice community.
I was wondering if I should get Live or not during the last sale (sold it for Bitwig). After retrying the demo for about 2 days I was glad to be back in Bitwig.

I dunno anymore. If I hadn't have jumped on the bitwig bandwagon today, everyone would be telling me what a fool I am, since I did, everyone is telling me what a fool I am.
I can't keep up. More cat pics PLEASE!

if the initial price was 169€ too, it would be an interesting offer. with 379€ initially and then 169€ for one more year etc. etc. it is rather expansive, imo.
