But I am not getting any sound whatsoever when I try to use it.

I installed the program after first unpacking the samples.
Attached my keyboard to my MacBook Pro running the current MacOS. It fits the specs cited on the Neo-Soul Keys Studio page. The MIDI light blinks whenever I hit a key on the keyboard, but no sound coming to my laptop.

Help?
Did you tell N-S K S where the samples are?

/Joachim
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Joachim, that turned out to be the issue.

When I tried to unpack the samples by right-clicking and choosing UnRarX, it instead defaulted to RAR Archiver which unzipped the samples to God knows where. So I didn't know where to tell N-S-K-S to look for the samples.

However when I opened the UnRarX software, I was able to pick a destination, have it unrar the samples to that destination, and then tell N-S-K-S where to find them.

Now everything is working lovely and I am blown away by the detail, quality and comprehensiveness of Neo-Soul Keys Studio.

Sorry I couldn't get back to you. Our installer should have prompted you for the location. It does for about 70% and not for others and we think it has something to do with that preverbal OSX Sandboxing. We will sort this out and thanks for your patience!

No problem Jamal,
Good looking out. I've been enjoying using your Neo-Soul keys iPad app since it first came out. Neo-Soul Keys Studio? A Certified BEAST. Much respect to you, Sir.

Maybe the following info might help with development? This path outlined on page 1 in the beginning of the User Manual:
/Username/Library/Application Support/Gospel Musicians/Neo-Soul Keys Studio/User Presets/

...Doesn't appear to exist on MacOS 10.12.3 (I'm on a 2015 MacBook Pro).

Specifically, "Library" is not an item listed in the directory immediately following my username. I'll admit, I'm new to modern day MacOS, so I might be missing something. But that's what I found as I was troubleshooting last night.

Andrew the Library is hidden. You have to unhide it by right clicking and unhiding. Apple Hides those important Library folders to keep novices from messing stuff up..lol!

We have an offline activation procedure coming soon. It'll be very similar to the Challenge Response. This update should be available in a couple of days, for those who have computers that can't be online.

Thanks! I'm still learning my way around on the MacOS. Lastly, I am running into an issue where I try to use it in GarageBand but soon as the plugin loads, I'm told TurboActivate.dat did not load. I'm asked for my p r o d u c t k e y. When I enter it and press OK. It kicks me back out to the previous screen.

I really want to be able to use Neo-Soul Keys Studio with GarageBand. Do you have any idea what's happening?

We have a fix coming for this. It is related to the, very intrusive, Apple Sandbox workaround. Stay tuned.

Anyone had the last UVI 4.1 version and bought the new one? Would like to know about the difference in sound of the common suitcase and stage models from someone who played them both. After all, the UVI version is only 2.2 GB in size (after some incredible lossless compression only UVI seems to have access to). As the new version has almost no compression and weighs ten times as much, I'd like to know if the difference between both is in the same ballpark.

Hi guys,

bought NSKS rigth away and i am happy with it so far. well sampled, nice patches and a lot of possibilities to tune sweet detail. Just want to let you know i ran in to a couple of minor bugs:

1) CPU load raises if the GUI is shwon. In VST mode (using ableton live, brainspawn forte, cantabile...) cpu workload goes up by ~10% (on a core m 2ghz tablet running at full speed) if the GUI is activated. Deactivating the plugin doesn't change anything. Closing the GUI makes everything fine again. This problem also occurs in standalone mode. If i minimize the GUI to taskbar, CPU load drops significantly. First guess: NSKS GUI is reporting Cpu-consumption/Ram-usage/Voices at a very high (little too high?) refresh rate?

2) In standalone mode switching between different asio drivers (RME Asio, Steinberg Asio, Asio4all) is not always working propperly. Not sure when and why exactly. Restarting NSKS makes everything running smooth again. No problems when switching ASIO drivers when running as a VST...

3) A "problem" which also occured in the old Neo Soul Keys Library for Kontakt: Some Amp-Simulations (i.e. Guitar Amp 1+2) lead to a noticeable latency. It's easy to hear and feel this latency kicking in when moving the dry/wet Knob of the amp simulation. Going I was checking Kontakt's wav analyser in the Convolution Reverb section and found a characteristic for all latency affected Amp-wavs. i.e. "warm clean.wav", "subtle.wav" or "dark tube.wav" don't have this latency issue. "guitar amp 1.wav", "guitar amp 2.wav" or "fend sim.wav" always make the sound kick in slightly (at least 20ms) later. I remember i was not the only one who noticed this and a discussion in an older thread concerning this issue, can't find it anymore... well, i don't really use the amp-simulation anyways.

4) Some E-pianos (i.e. Suitcase Dry, mark 1 stage) give me a little glitch noise after release. This happens with all effects and additional sweets disabled. ok, you need good earphones or studio monitors to hear them, but they are "there". Maybe that's just what a real Rhodes sounds like :phones: :hihi:

Glitch noise is because of the AMP Release is too short. Raise the Release.
