Hey 7XL I want it too.
I used the term in the cubase thread referring to myself
If it sounds good it is good.

SONAR5 sucks rocks! The interstellar audio engine chokes when I have 122 Rhino8s running at once and I insert six convolution reverbs! This package is worthless!7XL wrote:S_A_P,
Stop speculating?????
How dare you come in here with that "wait and see" attitude. The people here at K-v-R have a diety given right to bash anything they want, even if it's not out yet or if they've never used it.
Senseless product bashing and unbased speculation are all that some people have going for them.
Wait and see indeed.
There, now I don't have to exercise my right to flame an unshipped product for at least 3 years.

I actually agree that the audio engine in Sonar is not as smooth as Logic 5.5.1 or SX2 in the "hiccup" department, comparing similar on-screen parameter manipulation in all three.
All three have great features, though, so I'll keep plunking down the update cash until I make SOMETHING memorable out of one or all of them

I have both Ableton Live 4 and Sonar 3. I've been a long term user of Sonar from version 1 so I enjoy using it but... when it comes to gapless audio in a live setting it can't compete, in it's current form, with Live 4.
With Live I can drop effects, synths, audio and midi in and out in realtime without any glitches. I'm including UAD-1 and the Powercore effects in this scenario.
I think this is very useful in a live setting because it means that the song arrangement can be changed in almost any way while the song is playing. It means that there isn't the need to load up an effect in a track before playing live - just drop it in and out where necessary. When using a laptop live this is an ideal arrangement. I know something similar can be achieved in most hosts using busses but this does mean that the effect is loaded all the time.
Live 4 is unique in it's ability to achieve almost 100% gapless audio on my ageing system. And the song construction method in Live offers a refreshingly different way to make music. I think it compliments Sonar very well, especially now that Sonar 4 will have surround.
I liked Live 4 so much I bought the company!

Notice that they say "improved audio engine". I'm a SONAR user and anxious for the upgrade but I doubt it will be truly 'gapless'.
I'm curious - any ProTools users watching this thread? The latest version is supposed to have full PDC - does PT gap now when inserting plug-ins?
