The way you talk, looks like you are another one of those dazzled by a recent discover of "the magic old world of analogs"egbert101 wrote:I just dreamed the sound.fmr wrote: So, you did some real tests to reach that conclusion? And you escaped my question

When they make it a VST, definitely.egbert101 wrote:BTW, did you see my post about VCV Rack? Seems like exactly the thing that would interest you. Early days I guess.wagtunes wrote:egbert101 wrote: Actually not. My tongue gets caught in my teeth.

It's never going to be a VST as such, it will always be standalone, with a 'bridge' allowing midi and audio communication to come.wagtunes wrote:When they make it a VST, definitely.egbert101 wrote:BTW, did you see my post about VCV Rack? There is nothing to stop you developing patches for it now.

I like my toys too...
I have a quality point and shoot camera and have sold photos shot on it but it is not a pro camera and cannot come close to the range of photography I can do with my 'real' cameras.
I have a number of iOS synths, but I may never use them for anything substantive. It is enough easier to just use my regular mac that connecting the iPad Pro just seems not worth it. I have so many tools on the Mac that I never need another. Also, I rather dislike the touchscreen interface for using virtual controls. It is too clumsy. It is really annoying moving a control to a certain value and how often it then shifts a bit as I lift my finger.
As a control surface, I would much rather have real knobs and sliders.
Anyway, we have wandered far afield from Pulsar 900 which is not even iOS!
Indeed i even agree with you in some points (f.e. that the touch screen is not always the better choice compared to a mouse/trackpad/hardware controller especially for fine editing) but i still think that iOS has also some pro over a desktop/notebook for some people like me.
That dinosaur thing was more a joke but indeed i think that iOS will grow in the coming years and it´s just hard to justify 10X the price for the "same" synths.
IOS and macOS coexist in piece here and i try to use the best of both worlds.
Yeah, let´s get back to P900 which is awesome....did i say that i like it...yes, i love it.
I even don´t know how accurate it is modeled and i don´t care. F.e. i don´t like Monark or Legend so much and so i thought i might not be a Moog fan....but then i love Model 15 on iOS and was searching for a desktop version. No way. Then i stumbled over P900 and it is like Model 15 on steroids with a more juicy and snappy sound (maybe because the envelopes are more modeled like the Minimoog rather than from the original Moog Modulars).
The sequencer modul is really fantastic and the reverb sound really good so that i can live with it without using my extern reverb mostly in this case. I must say i´m not a fan of the BBD Delay and that i can´t modulate it. Here Model 15 is much better for me.
So some more FX and audio input (or a FX version) would be great
I even would pay some bucks again for more Modules if that could help the developer.
It must be hard for a one man show but i really appreciate what great synth he has done here.
For me better than most other modulars i tryed....and i tryed them all. Not as versatile maybe but great at what it does. I also saw in some other forums where people whith real analog modulars really like it and think it´s very very close or even on par with them.
That it is polyphonic via a switch is of course another great thing. I wished it would offer MPE (like Model15) but i can work around it if i want with using several instances of the same patch and split midi channels.
Uhh....sorry for that long post. Have a nice day

It very much depends on what matters to you, what your interests are.fmr wrote:
And, no, I don't think that many of the "circuit modeled" synths out there sound THAT better - but they certainly demand a lot more CPU. And even when they do (and much more when they don't) what we get in the the end sometimes doesn't really justify the expense.
I give you the Roland emulations, for example. They sound really good, but do you really want a monosynth that takes 60% of your CPU? Or a polyphonic synth that kills your CPU when running in full 8 voices? I am calling these because they are among the best emulations I heard so far. Yet the Arturia and TAL counterparts stand well against them for the most part without killing the CPU (and I am saying this COMPARED to the originals Jupiter-8 and Juno-60).
The higher CPU circuit modeled synths of the past few years sound distinctly better for audio rate modulations and especially with filter feedback/FM and as the resonance gets turned up high. You can push the synth out to the edges and the sound does not start to fall apart as it does with many older synths.
The newer circuit modeled synths also respond better and with more character to realtime tweaking.
You do get something for the CPU use. If that does not interest you personally, fine. And yes, I want a high CPU monosynth. RePro-1 sounds amazing, is like one big sweet spot and feels like tweaking a real analog monosynth. I'm also glad to have some low cpu synths for some simple sounds where it does not matter.

My iPad Pro costs $1000 - I'm glad to have it for drawing with the Apple Pencil. That is what I use it for.Cinebient wrote:It seems you take me too serious sometimes....or it could be that i often say it wrong.

It is annoying to connect the MBP and iPad together for both audio and midi. I'm not happy with the workflow and result.
$1000 is very expensive just to use the iPad as a single audio out instrument. For that money I can get some real hardware synths! For that much money I can get a Linnstrument.
If you find musical value in it, great. I purchased a few iOS synths but I don't expect to actually ever use them for musical projects. I just wanted to check them out and they are cheap. I also purchased some tools like Lemur and Midi designer, but they were too much hassle and never used them. So in actual return on investment, my VST's that are 10X the cost are actually a much better deal.
