New from Forgotten Keys: Compu78.

Audio demo

Overview
Compu78 is a KONTAKT 5 plugin simulation of the Roland CompuRhythm 78 or CR-78. It features all the original sounds meticulously sampled at multiple accent levels and with up to eight round-robin variations depending on the sound. All the original rhythms and variations have been accurately reproduced and you can program your own rhythms in the same manner as you would on the original combined with a WS-1 programmer. In addition, you can record a performance and save it as a MIDI file.

It included several Snapshots that reproduce the rhythms of famous songs that featured the CR-78.

The FULL version of KONTAKT 5.8.0 or above is required. NOT KONTAKT Player.

Available from Kontakt Hub for £16.

That looks beautiful.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

My guess is that ZQ is talking about FK6 Roland CR-78 vs Compu78.

Oh, right, thanks Aloysius.

In that case the main difference is making use of Kontakt 5 features (the old ones were created on Kontakt 4) such as the bigger more accurate interface, the ability to record whatever is playing and export it as a MIDI file or drag it onto a track in your DAW rather than the old "DAW sync" method and using "Snapshots" for the famous songs. The internal record feature (not MIDI) is more accurate to how the CR-78 works as well.

Internally, it's a complete re-write.

Instabuy! Been waiting for this for a long time. That GUI on my monitor looks about the size of the real thing (and I have the real thing). I love though that you can program on this much easier than on the real thing. Love the Snapshots too.

So I've just gotten the latest versions of the Forgotten Key libraries and was shocked to find that they no longer have the midi key pattern switching available. The latest version version of the Korg KR55B called Mendacity has also lost the pattern combine switch.
Am I way off base here or were these the coolest features of these libraries?
For me the ability to play and mix pattern changes in real time made these much more than the original machines without them they are just nice emulations of the originals.
