How should I get rid of the plugins and samples on my old computer as it won’t be used for music anymore?
Should I desactivate and uninstall each plugin or sample library according to some specific procedure related to each individual developer? Or can I simply reset the entire computer without worrying about losing activations and the like?
Don’t know if this is the right forum, if not, please move my thread.

I'd deactivate any plugins you can and then reset or format the computer. You don't want to burn up limited activations if you can avoid it.

Some software doesn't provide a means to deactivate so in those cases you should be ok with requesting a new activation if you run out.

Anything that was authorized needs spefic procedures to get deauthorized, usually. Othrerwise, you will loose authorization counts. That's the, for example of Plugin Alliance, Arturia, IK Multimedis (if I'm not wrong), Presonus, Native Instruments (I think for NI you can manage directly online), etc.

The ones that only use serial numbers, or license files, or the ones that rely on external dongles, those you can simply uninstall and delete.

Thanks guys. Would there be a thread listing procedures per developer?

I don't think so, but if you list your plug-ins (if they are not that many) maybe I can help you.

Very kind indeed, but they’re over 400 :(

For a start...

If you have anything using soft iLok, deactivate it with iLok Licence Manager.

IKM and NI don't have any deactivation system. I'm assuming this will also extend to third-party Kontakt libraries.

You can deactivate Arturia, Plugin Alliance and PreSonus products from your account.

Waves and Arturia can be deactivated from their apps (Waves Central and Arturia Software Center).

The same applies to soft eLicenser. You better buy a dongle (USB) and transfer the licenses to it. (this applies to both iLOK and eLicenser). That way, you will be done forever (of course, you have to take care of the dongles).

I couldn't see a way to deactivate a soft eLicence with my Steinberg stuff. Just had to reactivate the licence on the new machine from my Steinberg account.

I think you can copy a licence from your soft eLicenser to a USB key (via drag and drop). From then on, it will be activated in your key, and you no longer need to activate or deactivate anything.
